6" Fans?
MazdaManiac,
What ever came of the 6" fans you were going to install? Any progress over the month of August?
Forgive me if you've posted this in another thread.....if nothing else, maybe a link in this one would be good.....just a thought.

I finally pulled the old (stock) pads to replace them (it's only been 2 months since the track ). They had about 3/16" of usable surface on them still (after only 20k miles), but had cracks throughout the material and some small chunks missing especially around the edges and over where the wear material is riveted to the backing plate. So I believe you were right about the stock pads, and would recommend to anyone who is tracking their car to dump the stock pads before going (if they are still thick, keep them as backups/spares).
Getting rotors turned is getting to be more difficult. My normal parts shop (a Murray's) won't touch RX-8 rotors due to legal reasons (not specific to the RX-8), even though they have a sign in the door saying "We turn rotors!" and the stock rotors are clearly marked as to allowable minimum thickness. Apparently they only turn certain rotors that they have some liability contract set up with the manufacturer? I couldn't get many details out of the counter jockey other than "No". Sheesh. I guess if they are not comfortable enough with their ability to do the work (or require me to sign a waiver), then I don't want them doing it. Anyway I found a CarQuest that turned them without having to refer to a computer to tell them whether they could or not (I did mic them when I got home and they are well above spec still).
