you don't need to start the engine . Just turn the ignition to on for a few seconds then turn it off again . You should hear two noises the second noise is approx. 3 seconds after you turn off the ignition . It sounds like a dc motor going one way then the other (cuz that is what it is )
If that checks out you need to establish if they actually open when you are driving - I'm not sure how you would do that . Anyone else ?

It's easy enough to check. unbolt the cat. and physically look inside to see if it's melted or not. Then he'll know for sure.

I just realised how you can check it . Do a dyno and see if power drops off just after the aux. port is supposed to open .

I checked that and i do hear the two noises. Ok so if my aux port isnt opening then how do i get it fixed? Also if im getting 180 with a messed up aux port then dang.

Well - we have not 100% established that it is your aux port but it certainly looks that way to me .
IDK how you could be sure without taking the lower intake manifold off . Can you log AFRS ? That might help .

You can always remove the APV motor and test it with 12VDC.
Then move the gear on the rear of the LIM and if it rotates smoothly, the valves aren't stuck.

... Be happy and leave.

181whp. DAng you have a real healthy engine. The lucky ones so far. Check the cat you never know.

Imagine you made 190WHP! That would be crazy!

here's my dyno sheet from Poland
2006 model, aprox. 6500miles, AEM CAI, RB Rev8 Catback, 4th gear, dsc off
its kinda hard to compare numbers on different dynos, and it does't really matter to me as long as the car is running fine (and I think it is atm, after a few track days this year)
orange is whp, red bhp
this was done on a dyno used for tuning 4wd cars
LINK
does this power curve look ok to you ?
thanks for your imput
Lukas

Hey All

Iv noticed from the dyno sheets that some cars make their peak hp at rpms(6k-7k) and some at higher rpms(8k-9k).

What would contribute to making peak HP at different rpms?
Weak ignition/plugs/intake?

Obviously if one can make max HP at say 6k then surely the engine is capable of more seeing as the 8 is rated to make max HP at around 8200/8500 RPM? Which would imply that the there certain issues causing the motor to only make peak at 6k?

Just trying to identify what sort of issues may cause this.

Cheers

I think not reading the rest of the posts in this thread causes horsepower loss at high rpm.

Seriously that's what the whole conversation is about. Typical reasons are: weak ignition, clogged cat, or APV not opening. The different problems have different symptoms to distinguish themselves. The power peak for a stock engine is roughly at 8Krpm.

Alright im back with a new dyno sheet.

Mods:
AEM cold air intake
Cobb AP: MM base tune

I also fixed my APV not opening issue. The numbers on the sheet are small but it says 189 whp.

I was at the dyno today..

i have done 3 runs and the best result is, 235HP peak (corrected) and 214NM.
i wondering about the powertrain loss of 85HP! so i have only 150HP on the wheels
That is ~40% loss!

back then as the car was new and completly stock i had 210HP, that was about 170HP on the wheels.
that was ~19% powertrain loss.

i donīt know why i have so much loss to the powertrain now? because the car feels good and i donīt feel a loss of power..

Red = BHP
Blue = WHP
Orange = NM

First of all, your ratings are in pferdestärke, not horsepower.
Your actual output was 146 HP.
The "corrected" number you state is an estimate of crank power, and it is obviously way off.
None of the Euro models actually made 232 HP at the crank.

You are also running excessively rich over 5000 RPM.

Yes iīm sorry about the PS - HP calculation.
Iīm only wondering about the big powertrain loss of 40%
At my last dyno 5years ago i had only 19% loss..
besides now i have a lightweight flywheel and pulleys etc..

i donīt know why it is that rich at higher rpmīs. the PCM is stock with no modifications.
