Definitely . It's the same story with fI'd engines where people report 400+ g/s yet make only 280whp on the dyno .
I rarely scale mafs at the high end of the scale but i know many do.

I was actually wrong, near the bottom of the log I actually hit 267 g/s around 8800 rpm.

@WCS attached is a log file

@Fazda how was FF? I ended up getting really sick about the week before so I missed it, just now getting over it.

hehehe ... I was just trying to figure out how to make that happen and post a log.

I'm figuring if I cut way back on the VE and jack up the g/s in the idle area on the Maf I might be able to get a 100 g/s idle log

If you are going to post a log - please post something we can all see in the thread not an attachment that some of us may have to f*ck about with to open.

Screenshot of part of the datalog for easy access, full log is attached in a post earlier in the thread.

Column's from left to right: Time, Accel. Pedl pos, Equiv. Rat, RPM, Calc. Load, LTFT, MAF, STFT, V Speed, Ign Tim, Ign Split

Not sure why its so blurry.

thanks for taking the time to do that .
I take it that your maf has been scaled (via a Cobb tune) or you don't have the stock maf tube ?

Correct on both parts, it was in the early stages of being tuned by MazdaManiac and it has a AEM CAI

2005 6 speed MT rx8, original engine(for all I know, I'm the 3rd owner) with 76k miles on it.

Conditions:
88°F
25% humidity
1000ft. Elevation
Engine at operating temp
Around 1 in the afternoon
Dynojet inertia dyno
I drove the vehicle and operated the dyno

Mods:
SOHN OMP adapter running idemitsu premix
Custom single exit catback
RaceRoots single resonator mid pipe
5w-30 Mobil 1 synthetic engine oil
I don't know what Mazda flash is on the PCM I've never brought it to the dealer and had anything checked by them, I do my own maintenance so I haven't needed to so far

Results:
First pull 4th gear 170HP/125Torque
Second pull 3rd gear 168HP/129Torque

The reason for the 3rd and 4th gear pulls is because I did it at my school and my teacher didn't want me going to fast on the dyno.

Bottom line is what I was able to get with a very conservative street tune. Top line is after I was done on the dyno.

'07 RX8. ~85k miles. Original engine. Original coil packs.

E85. Stock injectors. Walboro GSS242 fuel pump. Stock intake. OEM air filter. SOHN OMP adapter. Redline 40504 alcohol specific 2 stroke oil. Turbo XS header. AP catless midpipe. Borla catback. Rear O2 sensor delete.

For reference, this car made 179whp on the same dyno before all of the mods. Dyno Dynamics units typically read a teensy bit low. The engine was healthy as **** at 80k miles when I first got the car. I'm the second owner. First owner was a psychotic about maintenance.

The only real thing that is a bit unique is that I cut off the header and midpipe flanges. It's now a 3" exhaust from the collector to the muffler.

I haven't seen many other cars make this kind of power without porting.

Not bad for tuning my first rotary (I have tuned hundreds of piston cars tho).

I prefer to reference MAF Voltage for NA, but even it can be skewed by altering the MAF tube diameter, plus MAF rates inherently vary based on a variety of conditions such as temperature, humidity, altitude, etc.

I have a seen a bone stock RX-8 make 200WHP and plenty of people have exceeded 207WHP without being ported. Not that it matters though really since comparing dyno results is just silly.

You need to be somewhat smart when you are working with remote tuners... If you see AFR's that high and are still pushing the car its safe to say Darwin will take care of you soon enough.

He stated that he was in the early stages of tuning with Jeff. I'm sure if he went back to Jeff with those logs he would get another tune.

It took Jeff quite a while to tune in my street ported engine and that was on a dyno, which makes things wayyyy easier. Its not a one hit wonder type of thing, and is something that needs to be dialed in often. With every new part, engine build etc. I've seen cars roll off a dyno making 200+ whp the following year on the same dyno pulling 185 whP getting tuned back to 200 ish.

It's pretty much impossible to blow an NA RX-8 engine from a bad tune.
