That seems to be the general consensus on Facebook as well. im getting around to it. ill check this weekend and see if i can find a blue remanufactured sticker in the engine bay. Seeing as ive got 103k on the odometer
no what happened was i was running a ignition map i had copied from a thread where people were discussing the proper dwell settings for the D585 coils, after i seen my first dyno set (176whp,185whp,183whp) i had left to reflash the car back to the oem ignition dwell timing map and returned to the dyno did another set of three runs (which for some reason i only record the last run off but you can see the results of on the pictures btw incase you were wondering one of the pictures are from when my car was stock.) and it made more power(188whp,190whp, 190whp).
So basically you are saying you gained 14 whp from changing your ignition dwell?
That seems more like a fubar dyno than anything else.
Dyno results from last year,
Stock R3
Dyno shows: Blue- completely stock untouched at ~45000KM, Red- after installation of BHR ignition and new coils and Green then ECU tune by TheWird (marco Jorge)
I highly recommend him to anyone in the GTA. Went from 156 to 183 whp and +1 mpg! https://www.facebook.com/rxtuning?pnref=story
Very happy with how the car was running until I took it into the dealership. Not sure what they did but now have a really rough idle. Replacing the spark plugs helped a little. Just seems like car is hiccuping and not as smooth as it was.

Reason: added info
aem cold air intake
AP midpipe (exhaust leak at the front flange)
NGK iridiums plugs (just oem ones nothing special here)
racing beat header.
HKS HiPower single exit.
Racing beat 8lb Flywheel.
BHR ignition kit.
cobb AP (higher omp rates, adjusted dwell time, cooling fan temps)
buddy club racing spec condensor 2
throttle body coolant bypass mod.
2006 USDM RX8 6port AT Stock(with guttet cat) + Custom Mazdaedit tune
Rev limiter moved from 7500 to 9000RPM
Changed Fan settings to cool quicker
Disabled Lambda 2 error
Disabled Factory speed limiter that was set to 200kph
Correction of the fuel map
After that i've got 202,9HP on the Dyno

How did you change the rev limiter and remove the speed limiter? I wanna do this on my car too.
Then pull out your wallet and get your own proof. If not then search the board because there has been plenty of discussion around this topic.
You can't conclude anything from a discussion, merely from numbers from the dyno like they did in Fifth Gear. It's probably done before, and I don't feel like paying so much money for a graph on a paper.
Then I'd rather pay a few bucks more for Octane 100 instead of 95.

you can't conclude anything from a dyno unless you're there watching every little thing. Numbers don't lie, but the dyno settings can easily be changed and vary between every dyno.
Generally on stock ECU and car there will be no difference in power between 100octane and 95. At least i don't see the difference between 95 and 98. I tested mine on 98. There might be difference if ECU was specially tuned for that fuel - timings etc then it MIGHT give some difference on dyno.
Exactly rx8s don't have fuel sensors. So they can't detect the differance. Even the other cars in the video.
If a car is tuned for the fuel and gets cheaper fuel it'll knock and pull timing thus losing power. If it's made for a lesser fuel then the better fuel won't make a differance.
Modern ECU's will detect ping/knocking and pull timing based on that.
I don't know about the RX8 because it only has the one knock sensor. But my Audi shows a significant difference between 91 and 93 Octane. I assume the RX8 has some version of this though.

Ummmm, one of our local guys pulled 190WHP in a bone stock 09' R3 (and I have seen a few bone stock RX-8's make 180+WHP on various dynos) on a Dynojet in the summer in mid 90F weather. So if your baseline was that low and then a tune (I'm assuming mazdaedit?) made that much power then there is something wrong there.
