E-Brake light on at higher speeds

Hey guys, interesting problem here..
I recently bought an 04 RX8, and of course like most people here, I want to push it fast.. This is probably the 3rd time I've pushed it over 95 (ok yeah i know its not that fast), and every time I push it that fast or faster, the e-brake light pops on, as if someone pulled it up (which didnt happen of course).. has anyone ever had this kind of problem? any idea what it could be? The car still drives fine when that light pops on, and once I turn the car off and back on the light turns off also.

Thanks for the comments

First, the RX-8 does not have an e-brake. It has a parking brake.

That off my chest, the brake light can indicate a couple of things. One is that the parking brake is on - or at least that the lever is not all the way down. The other is that the brake fluid level is low.

So check the master cylinder reservoir. If the fluid is low, you can top it off, but check the pads. Low fluid usually means the pads are worn.

The front brakes do need to be replaced.. therefore that is probably the problem..
