electrical or mechanical.

what's the difference or better? ill be installing a water temp gauge on the 8.

electrical for sure.

you don't want a line going loose inside your cabin and hot coolant/oil spraying everywhere...

that and installing any mechanical gauge is a PITA.

the difference is

mechanical required u to connect the tube from the water source all the way into your cabin. So like alz0rz said, if the tube or the gauge leak for whatever reason, its going to be a total mess.

Electrical on the other hand, require just a sensor to be installed on the water source. much cleaner and electrical wire is ALWAYS thinner than a tube. making it easier to route it into your cabin.

Only good thing about mechanical is that its a bit cheaper.

I have electical Defi gauge installed.

Most people will tell you that besides cheaper......a mechanical is more accurate, but I agree.......not at the expense of having hot coolant or oil all over the cabin!
