emulsified oil on dip stick
Hi guys, bought my 2004 231 just two weeks ago.
This morning when I went to check the engine oil for the first time (2.5 tanks) i noticed the dip stick is covered in thick gunge (emulsified oil) there isn't any in the oil filler cap or down the hole that I can see.
Is this NORM???!!!
I live on the west coast of Scotland, so it's a wet/damp a lot of the time.
I'm going to phone the dealer, asap, but don't want to get fobed off with a load of bull.
And since it's a two hour drive from here any dealings could turn out to be costly time/money!!!
Thanks for all your help.
Vince.

= number of milky oil threads this Winter.
My intent is not to rag on the OP, just keeping track, but a search would've yielded you info.
Welcome to the addition and there is no real problem with your car. Chris already gave you the TSB above so take a look at that before calling the dealer.

Thanks
Thanks to "all"
I must confess, having spent the contents of my bank account on a "WEE TREAT" for myself, I was thrown into a little "PANIC".
Had that not been the case, then I would of course done a full search. If for no other reason than NOT looking like a fool???!!! TOO LATE!!!!!!!!!
Well, it's done and dusted.
I see your all from the states, lucky barstards. I live in bonny Scotland, only you can't see it's bonny for all the rain!!!
What's the situation there with speeding??? I've always assumed the speed limits in the USA were very low? What's the risk of getting caught???
Keep safe, and maybe we'll meet up one day.
PS Thanks for the advice.

Feels Fast
I know what you mean.
I've transfered from a SUV vauxhaul frontera. The RX8 is so low that to me it feels fast whatever speed I'm doing. I've been doing 50mph thinking I was moving, 30 seconds later you're doing over a ton. These things fly!!!!
My old car was more like a boat!!!

But on STATEHIGHWAY outside of the city, I would think twice b4 I do it. Well, to be exact, I will do it if Im driving in my father's CX-7, but not in my RX-8. Why ? Cuz those ***** always pick on sports car and think they "endanger others on the road", fuxk tards. Most of the *crazy nutz drivers going at least 90MPH* that I've seen usually came from SUVs, then its Small cars like Civics, Corollas, etc.

Another perfect example of us being asses to our new rotary brother. While it's obvious he's a noob, and though he has no excuse for not searching first... we still all take the time to enter the thread and rip on him even after the SEARCH idea was proposed to him. IMO "noob question" threads should have NO MORE than 1 reply.

Vince, Just a short post to say hi. I'm on the est coast of Scotland (just outside Edinburgh) Had my 05 RX8 231 for a year now. Tradded from something similar to yerself. A Honda HRV 4wd...and I know what you mean, this car is totally tremendous ! No more canooy type corners. Hehe. A year on and I still can't believe how good this car is. I had a very small bit of that milky stuff a few months ago, nothing to worry about. Drop my oil every 3.5 - 4 K miles. Watch for tail-lights misting up in our weather though, I'm seeing dealer tomorow about this.
Apart from minor stuff = very reliable
PS: in my experience, welly it every now and then - it will reward you for it

THANKS for the info.
Your right, it's FUN FUN FUN!!!
What would you reccomend as a means of avoiding points during WELLY sessions???
A friend f mine sugests TOM TOM.
Although it does NOT detect traps, it knows where they all are, inc. mobile types.
If you ever take a spin in the highlands, give me a call?

I don't have any detectors yet, but I've heard the top of the range 'road-angel' is the one to go for. At the moment i just choose my moments carefully to let rip.
My mate got caught doing 86 mph in a 50 last year - got letter through post, he signed it and sent it back admitting the offence -then heard nothing. Now it is too late for the poliss to do anything, so its been dropped. Lucky ! aparently this happens quite a bit in the uk
As, for the highlands....ahhhh. Just too many good roads to choose from (and usually empty too). We are so lucky dude.
There's a quarter mile & drift track open every 2nd Sunday at Crail, thats really good fun. I'll give you a shout when we start our roadtrips up north.
Have fun. G
