Engine compatibilty 2009 vs 2004 ?
I have read here that the 2009 engine is different from the 2004-2008 engine.
The HP has a new part number n3z3-02-200a while the old one has n3h3-02-200a. A quick look at the EPC shows that the rotor housings are new for 2009 but the apex seals are still the same.
The OMP is supposed to be electronic on the 2009 but can the old pump be fitted to the new engine ?
In general: can you put the 2009 engine into a 2004 without too much hassle ?
Thanks !

The 09 has more oil metering nozzles, a 04 OMP wouldn't know what to do with it. You would need an 09 ECU and would have to change the oil cooling lines. The oil filter was moved on the 09's. Since the power is the same there is no advantage to putting an 09 engine into a series 1 RX8.

Thanks.
Not looking for more power but more reliability.
Changing the front cover could solve the OMP issue but if there are no internal engine differences, it wouldn't be more reliable.
I will check a few more vital parts in the EPC.
