Angry Engine Coolant Leak

I turned on my car last Friday at lunch time, and green liquid started leaking out of my glove compartment. I took my car into Mazda, and it turns out it was Engine Coolant! WTF! Has this happened to anyone else? I'm glad i took my car in right away or else my engine might have been toast. The repairs are covered under warantee, but I'm stuck driving a dinky VW golf for a few days >_<

Another thing. What's the deal with Mazda not providing loaner cars? I know other companies provide loaner cars whenever a customer's car has to stay overnight. I think it's totally abserd that the customer has to pay for the rental cars in these situations.

I don't know if Mazda Canada has different warranty policies than the US, but my warranty covers a rental anytime my car has to be left at the dealer- even if it's just an afternoon... in fact most of the time it's been just for the afternoon with me (flashes, airbag recall, AC amplifier).

I think the loaner car policy is a dealer thing and not a manufacturer thing. Many dealers here in the US will give you a loaner when you bring your car in for service--warranty or otherwise. Generally, you have to make an appointment well in advance in order to guarantee that a loaner will be available.

From the Mazda web site

"While we strive to make every Mazda service department waiting room as pleasant as possible, we’re aware that there's probably some place you’d rather be. That's why we created the Mazda Service Transportation Solution, where participating Mazda dealerships provide loaner cars at no charge to you while your vehicle is having warranty work performed.

Every 2001 - 2005 Mazda comes with the Mazda Service Transportation Solution for the duration of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Program is subject to dealer participation and availability; ask your dealer for complete details. "

Yeah, I think the key words here are "Program is subject to dealer participation and availability...". Dealers probably are not bound to this arrangement unless they choose to participate.

I just looked at the Canadian website. This is what it says:

"Mazda New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not provide for a courtesy vehicle. However, for those who purchased the Mazda Added Protection extended warranty, provision of a courtesy vehicle provided from Mazda Canada Inc. while your vehicle is being repaired under warranty is one of the early benefits."

I think it's total BS that Mazda Canada doesn't offer courtesy vehicles. I wasted 120 this weekend on a dinky VW Golf! My car has been sitting in the dealership lot all weekend because the part they ordered still hasn't arrived. I owed a Honda before, and their service seems so much better (oil changes don't waste 1 hour of your time)...

LOL that thing happen to me TWICE, first time there was a hole in my radiator, and i don't now how the **** that happen. Second time i bought a aftermarket PWR radiator, the second day i drove it, there was little coolant dripping on the ground. Now my car is stuck in the shop for two weeks. i think the aftermarket radiator don't fit well with the radiator hose.

Hi, the easy answer is yes after owning my 8 for a couple of months and having only driven 1000 miles, my coolant level light came on. After taking the top cover off I could see the tell tail green stain on the engine, so off to mazda who said sorry but you have a coolant leak from the front of your engine ( something they had not come across before). As the car was under warenty they opted for a complete engine replacement to solve the problem. New engine ok ! But as you can apreciate there was quite a lot of hassle factor with this leak.
