OK so after the retards at the dealer couldn't tell me exactly what was wrong with my car but insisted that I needed a new engine I told them about the bulletin and the extended warranty and they had no clue. I then called Mazda and talked to a representative there and they were unpleased that I was not given the fault of my car. Memorial day weekend passed and on Tuesday afternoon I received a call from Mazda stating that my car was covered under all bulletins, warranties, ect. so now I get a new engine basically for free. I still have to cover misc gaskets and stuff that isn't covered in the warranty they said but it's not much. The funny part about this is two days later the service guy from the dealer called me to basically harass me and tell me he doesn't know how the hell I did it and that I was getting away with something and I lucked out. I tried to tell him before but he blew me off like I didn't know what the hell I was talking about.

Thanks for the help guys!!

O and I got this straight out the factory reps mouth for other people who might read this and didn't know. The extended warranty for the engine covers the car it's self and it doesn't matter if you're the 2nd owner or the 20th. If you fall in the 8 year 100,000 miles it's the car not the owner.

pay for gaskets?! ummmm....NO.
glad you're making progress rick, I know it's been a frustrating battle but hang in there because it sounds like your engine is heading to Rotary Heaven but you'll get a replacement that'll be better then the last engine.

We're hearing lots of good things about the engines that they're putting in the 8's these days.

This is a good thread - Stickie maybe because it shows how dealers can not know something basic or know it but still try to screw you.

You always have to stand your ground.
Be nice but stand your ground.

yeah the lady said she wasn't sure if spark plugs and all that kind of stuff was covered. I kinda thought it should be but I'll see what they try to get me with when i go pick my car up. It should be done by the end of the week but we'll see.

OK this must be catch 22 or something.

Mazda and the Northest service rep already oked my engine change but now some tard at the tech team or whatever is tring to say some crap and now Mazda is basicly argueing with themselves. Man this is to funny. Sometimes you just need to take a deep breath and laugh about the whole thing.

You ask me Mazda already screwed themselves by telling me yes. I'd say to bad so sad Mr. techy

I think is the tech there is telling techline(Mazda's service line) some bs info probably saying that they found condoms on your intake or something screwing everything over and its not mazda's fault.

Sit back and relax, you're covered.

Good thread indeed! I had a similar argument with a dealership here where I went above their heads and called corporate in order to get the work performed.

My final result was a call from the dealership to apologize for the inconvenience and "misunderstanding" and to notify me that my car had been moved to the top of the repair dept's queue.

When I went to pick the car up they apologized again, I simply suggested that perhaps they use a bit of dilligence and try to find the correct answer to a question before they fire off their unofficial response.

OK so apparently even though Mazda and the Northeast service rep said yes to go ahead and change my engine the Dam tech guys have to exercise their job security and now who knows what is going to happen. I did call Mazda corporate back with the emphasis on the fact that I'm not happy about any of this crap and they already said yes and now all this BS.

so the Tech does not want to replace the engine?
Did the engine pass the compression test?

Keep in mind, the Techs don't run the service dept, the Service Manager does. I'd call him/her and ask for clarification on what's going on. Mazda North America can't force them to do anything since the dealership network is privately owned.
Ask to know why this is taking so long and for a copy of the compression test figures.

Yeah I just got done with a series of about 6 calls and I faxed the paperwork of when I bought the car straight to the district manager. He needed paperwork stating that I just bought the car like 6000 miles ago and some other stuff.

Two words can explain my experience with this whole thing: extremely frustrating

Nope haven't sent me anything. Not that I haven't asked like 50 times. seems like what is required is max participation from me and 0 from them.

OK so i thought i would give you guys an update even though the problem isn't solved yet.
Mazda finally replaced my engine for free. no charges at all BUT and this i found hard to believe. When i got there they said o we didn't charge your AC so i waited cause that takes like 10 or 15 min but when they brought the car up it wouldn't even idle. the guy tried to give it to me and he said and i quote "it doesn't really idle. you'll have to rev the gas a little when you stop at red lights to keep it running" I just laughed at him but he really wanted to give me those keys. So after my i will kill you and your family looks at him and the stream of disbelief that they are that stupid and insults they gave me a rental car and said they'd look more into it. With this service i have no faith in them at all and will be calling mazda corporate back tomorrow to tell them and request that someone more competent or another dealer make sure it is ok before i take it back into my possession.

WOW!!

What nerve. How stupid do you need to be to even try to give the car back. Jesus.

"Hey, your car doesn't work but we're done working on it, have a nice day!"

Honestly, I almost think it's time to get lawyer involved and get compensated for your time/misery that this dealer has been putting you through. This is beyond ridiculous.

if Im you, I will take the car back, and drive it to some other dealerships

As you might realized that people there are bunch of crooks who just wanna rip every single person that goes that everyday. All they can do is probably oil change and lube the locks.

Engine replacement? not quite.

The 100K Engine warranty covers ONLY the short block, that means the engine itself. nothing else. you still get new water pump, oil pan, and thermostat tho.

You should really take your car and run as fast as you can away from that dealership.

where do you live anyway ?

the tech don't want to do the engine swap because they are pay hourly by the book, if the book call for 18 hours for an engine swap, they get 18 hours of pay. but if it is a recall, or a warranty, mazda corp will only give them 15 hours to finish the job. so if they haven't did a engine swap before or only have a few chance to do, then they may go over their pay hours. so who want to do a 20 hours jobs and get pay for 15. I will call madza crop and ask them could you take your car to a private garage, or to another dealer that have some more experience with the rotary engine, because if the tech try to speed things up, there is only two out come either a half *** job, or a *** up job. call around for a shop that want your engine swap.
