Nope no one can help you until you provide more information.
Like year of car, auto vs manual, modifications, maintenance history.

And MOST important you must tell us what the CEL is (MIL)
The cars computer stores a code referencing why the engine light is on.

In North America we can get the code read for free from AutoZone or something like that.

Dunno what you have available in Kiwi land down under .... find someone with an ODBII reader or take it to the dealer.

Hey bro I'm from Zealand too, take it to an auto electrician and get it diagnosed.
I also have a obd2 reader but I'm in Hamilton, are you experiencing any issues besides having the light on such as hard to start or bad idling?.
I can help out as much as I can flick me a txt on 02108216090.

Having same issue with my rx8. I have a 2004 grand touring addition has 102k miles on it.
I have aftermarket cold air intake. I have oz racing wheels on it. I Have had this problem before
I changed the ignition coils and seemed to fix the problem. Today is a pretty hot day in st. Louis it's 97 degrees. Got my oil changed yesturday. Could it be because my car is hot and needs to cool down or what? The check engine light is on and while driving had to pull over on the side of the road turned it off and back on. Sounds kind of sluggish and a weird noise? Anyone have any ideas? Greatly appreciate it!

Needs CEL read to find the problem before you do anything else.

It's the "oz racing wheels".......wtf does that have to do with anything?
Just kidding......thought I'd point that out as I am an @ss.

Go get the CEL read.....even if it's not on now as it should be stored.
We need that code if you want some help as most of us are not psychic.
