engine light coming on

i recently bought a rx8 231, 2005 12000 miles, and after driving it very hard the engine light flashed on for a few seconds, it has now gone out, but the car missed fired in low gears and blew a bit of smoke under heavey acceleration , again this has now gone and the engine light has gone out. the car dose smell a little, bit like burning oil, although it seams to be driving very well now, can anyone set my mind at rest.

Actually, I would start by replacing the coil wires first.

plugs, wires not tight, coils.. it will also flash the cel if you drive real hard with less than a 1/4 tank of gas..

if it just flashes and goes away it is something more simple..

but find the code..

beers

What year is your car? Sounds like you came upon the cursed 04. Check and see if the recall was done on it.

It's a little too early, with only two posts, for you to get your *** kicked on this website. Then again, maybe it's one post too late.

dude, you need to relax. You've been here a whopping 2 days or so and you haven't thanked the people who helped you to a common problem you could have found on here just by freaking searching.

You aren't making any friends, fast

Haha...man...im happy to read this so im not the only one...i had this ****** problem too...and i took it to the dealer and he told me its a sensor fault he said...because when i drive fast the pressure makes the sensor go ....u see...but now he replaced it...and its still the same when i drive fast ...the light flashes again for a view seconds....tomorrow i go check the garage anyway...because i have some power loss...so then i will check my Cat. but im happy to read this topic..if u have fixed the problem...tell me what u did ok.
