engine pausing, bogging when shifting?
hello all, I have noticed lately that for some unknown reason, that when I accelerate quickly with the pedal to the floor say from 3k to 8k then shift to second quickly, the car hesitates for a second then goes, it will do the same for the rest of the gears, it almost feels like this... lol , vrrroooooooooommmmm hickup,,vroooooooooom hickup , , it sucks, you guys have any ideas to what it could be?? If i take it to 9200rpm right before the limiter and shift quickly it does not seem to be as bad. any guesses would be helpfull thanks,

The car will make a sound similar to a back fire when you rev it high then let the revs drop.
It will be much more pronunced with an aftermarket exhaust.
The car isn't hesitating, and what you describe is normal. It's happening because your engine was injecting a lot of fuel at the high rpms.... if you get the exhaust really hot (from driving at high rpms for several minutes), you can make your car shoot flames by doing what you describe.

If you listen closely, about midway thru this video has the burping sounds.

hey
That sounds good, but the car IS hesitating, i mean it throws me forward for a second, almost like its stalling for a sec, If it was not something i could feel i would not worry about it, but shooting flames does sound cool, ive done it with my old turbo 2 and my fd. thanks again, any other theories?
thanks,
Jesse

Are you rev matching close enough? I found the car to require a lot more attention than my other stick shifts. If you have it a bit too low or too high, you definately get jerking motions when shifting. Moreso in the low gears.
Thats about it for ideas from me.

I've found that this car likes a more gradual throttle input than most. Slamming the gas on the 1-2 shift will usually result in the described behavior. Try hitting the gas before you release the clutch, or turning off the DSC with the "long press" method. I'd say you are experiencing the Electronic Throttle Control trying to keep you from spinning the wheels on the shift.

im going to try turning the dsc off tommorow and i'll see what happens, I've read some on the DSC and how it causes problems, when mazda developed it, did they believe that we have 400lbs of torque? :D, I dont see why they made it so sensitive.
