engine replacement?

I had a blowout in my 8 a while back and and tps never has never gone off, and my engine light recently come on. So I take the 8 in today to get those things checked out, and after some service issues with the employee's at the lot, I get the news that my engine needs to be replaced. A little more info on my car is that it is an 04, with 38,000 miles. They told me that the reason for the replacement is that the engine is "running too lean" and not getting enough fuel, and that the catalitic converter sensor was detecting this. From the way they talk at the dealership and replacement is the way to go. This is just strange to me because my car has been running great with no problems at all. ? just strange. and also, those of you that have had your engine replaced, how do you like the car now? thanks for your input.

I have a feeling that they probably checking your car for the recall and it failed Vacuum test.

The reason why so many engines are failing its because Mazda forgot to *readjust* the OMP rate for 5w20 oil. Then the engine started their *slow and painful death*.

What kind of BS is Catalyst Converter detecting engine failure bs is that? dealership these days can throw any stories they can think of to fool customers. Why cant they just be more knowledgeable or simply tell the truth ?

Hope it works out for ya.

Well I've had four engines put in my car. Don't let thet scare you,,,to much.
The last one is running great and has been for about 12,000 miles.
If they want to put a new engine in it I don't see any problem with it. The older Re-Mans sucked *** though. The new ones are fine.
Pesonally I think your dealer has a bunch of tards working in the serve department.
As for running lean,, where did they get that reason to change the engine. Have you had all the Warranty TSB's done to it?
