engine shuts down after 2 hrs

hi all,
got a 53000 km 2004 rx8. i have problem where after driving for about 2 hrs non stop with some 5000-6000 revs the car suddenly misfires and eventually stops by it self. it would not restart immediatly but after a 10 minute cooldown it would start normal and run normal. but if i rev it up too much the same problem occurs. only happens after long driving. changed the spark plugs as well. what could be the problem. temperature in sri lanka 32 celsius.

thanks

Lalinka

This may be of some help: http://foxed.ca/rx7manual/2003mazdar...413350W02.html
However I would add a visual check of the fuel filter and a catalyzer inspection as well as a compression test, just to make sure.
I say this because it may be caused by one or more of the above, with the fuel pump being the most probable item.

You were lucky enough to get Charles' attention too, he has a great alternative to the failing OEM fuel pump that you may be interested in, if yours is failing.

Possibly coils as well, though Charles has a solution for that one too!
