engine swap
Hi guys.
Not sure this is in the right place, I hope so.
Does anyone know, or heard of. someone that has done an engine and gearbox swap from a 192 HP, 5 gear MT to a 230 HP 6 gear MT
I know its an odd request. Just wondering if there was someone out there that's done this.
Thanks In advance

@RxCraig8: The swap is doable but costs more than selling your car and buying a 6port one in decent conditions in europe. You would need an engine\intake manifold +6 speed tranny and an Ecu.. or skip our pos 6 speed tranny and keep yours. It will surely last longer :D

Hi guys, yeah I know its a stupid thing to do. If I was still in the UK I would've just brought a 230 in the beginning. The trouble is with living in Belgium they really hate sports cars over here.
Just to register the car I had to pay €2000 in taxes. For the 230 I would probably have to pay something like €3000. That's just for registering the car, yearly tax is also stupidly expensive.
So rather than wasting €3000 on taxes I would rather spend it on a new engine.
Thanks for replying

Look for threads by MrWankler. I've forgotten the details, but he did a swap among an amazing combination of parts.
He started with a salvage car that he got really cheap, and put a lot of work into it. I think he had a good time (especially countering the nay-sayers here) but if you discount the entertainment value it didn't make economic sense. IMHO, reading that thread and Rotary Resurrection's thread(s) on an AT to MT conversion will make you feel less unhappy about the cost of just buying and paying taxes on a higher powered model. Or living with what you have.
