engine turns off

I had the oil pump and belts replaced and the mechanic told me I would have rough idle until the ECU is calibrated because he disconnected the battery I guess.

I drove for over 2 hours and always, when rpm drop (i.e. at traffic lights), the engine turns off although the car is warm.

I disconnected the battery, waited for a few minutes, connected, turned switch to on for 1 minute, then off and then started the engine. I drove for a few minutes and came back. the engine turned off again and now it always turns off as soon as I start it.

I followed the procedures for clearing KAM and NVRAM, etc. but that didn't help.

Can someone help me because it's weekend and there's no mechanic around?

Was it doing this prior to the replacement parts?

No, actually a cat was jammed into the engine and destroyed all belts, cut some connectors and the oil pump wire, causing a shortage, so I also replaced the pump. I don't know if that caused any other problem which is not visible now.

Check the coils, plugs, and plug wires to see if they're connected correctly, also check all the cut connections to see if they're ok.

I believe that if it was connectors it would do it all the time. The thing is that when I disconnect the battery and then reconnect everything is fine at the first start except of the 2 lights: DSC blinking for several minutes and the (sliding control - don't know if that's the English name) which goes away at 2nd start.

At the 2nd start, the engine can't stay on. If it was connections, wouldn't this be constant?

The DSC light will always come on when the battery is disconnected so that's normal.

How many miles do you have on your car? The coil packs tend to fail around 40,000 miles and the spark plugs should be changed every 30,000 miles. If you're over or near these miles then the culprit would be the coil packs and spark plugs.

If these are already changed then something else is wrong, possibly a bad engine.

I had it serviced right before this happened. Sparks were replaced, coils last year. This has to do with what happened now.

The belts were not destroyed immediately, it happened while I was driving. Probably the same happened to the wires so I kept driving the car to the mechanic with CEL on at a very low speed. It would gomore than 20km aprox. since it was going without belts. Could this have caused other damage?
