Very nice, I noticed that Mazda uses pretty cheap/brittle plastics for all the undertrays/fender liners. A few cone hits and my rear tray is always torn off of the front lip to where I need to buy new clips/screws to reattach, it's getting annoying.

I don't think their plastic is any "cheaper" than any other OEM. There is just an awful lot of it and it is semi-structural, which is a mistake.

Unbelievable! What next? A mark on my permanent record card? Does this count as crap?
Why the big hoopla over fixing something with Tupperware? What's next, a merit badge?
Ban me if you must!!!

Yup, it does. All we ask is that you follow forum rules, which includes not harassing anyone or being rude. Not really so much to ask in the grand scheme of things. You can dislike MM all you want, but you need to take it elsewhere, and not bring it to this forum.

Not really.

I was doing that wind-testing you suggested on the previous page and I needed a hillbilly to provide the wind, which was created in ample supply.

Such drama over innovation.

A person doesn't see this from the top and it doesn't look like it would cause damage to the AC condenser if broken loose. Good job Mazda Maniac.

How about being proactive and fabricating a carbon fiber front tray edge reinforcement device. About a 1.5" curved piece the width of the front, hole for the screws, to clamp down and reinforce the plastic tray? Anyone? Anyone?

^^ I like it.
Carbon is blingy, though. I'll probably just use another strip of polypropylene.

Unfortunately after I fixed the passenger side the drivers side for no reason broke too!

Once again thanks to MM.

I used speed nuts in place of rivets. Mine ain't going anywhere. Both sides done now.

I should post some pics. We should make this into a DYI.

For anyone who has an aftermarket front bumper other than Mazdaspeed probably needs this.

cool - I just blew my lip and most of the tray out yesterday outside of Cochella on the way to Anaheim to trade that guy for the Seibon hood...... f'ing chunked truck tire came flying out the back of an SUV who also ran it over, but he had ground clearance, I didn't.... pretty scary at 80 MPH and no where to go...the piece got stuck in the suspension for a bit, and made a general mess.
Well, awesome, I even have that same tub in the shed!

You got lucky.
The last piece of tire rubber I hit blew my MazdaSpeed bumper in half.

wow, that would make me cry I think. The kid I went to see in Anaheim had no tray at all, and apparently he had lost the underpinnings more than just once in California driving...and his AC radiator looked like somebody kicked it in with a steel toe boot...somehow it didn't leak. Ya gotta have that tray for protection, and probably cooling dynamics...

It didn't make me cry, but I did wince like I got kicked in the sack as I was driving.
I looked over at NIki in the passenger seat and she at me without saying anything as we continued on a 70 MPH. I figured there was no pointing in stopping and looking at it then since I was so close to home and it would only make me pissed off prematurely.
Insurance paid for it, anyway.

Ha, that's great. I might have just spent the 200 dollars though... Even a plastic with a slightly different chemical composition can mean a huge difference under load. Creative though!
