extra motor
so, putting this new motor in and, i have the one im pulling out just sitting here. would it be smart to throw some money in it and and rebuild it and fix the compression (assuming the housing is not trash). I could sell it but i dont know what bad motors are going for these days haha. I know all this is opinion on what i should do, but im sure there are other people who have done the same thing and been in my shoes. Just wondering what would be good a good idea.

what was the reason for pulling that engine out ?
if it was compression related, then u can probably sell it for 100 bux or 2. Don't expect too much cuz most of the time 1/2 the stuff in there is no longer usable. and the rest could be obtain for cheap.
if it was blown, then might as well just give it out for free (they pay for shipping/pick up of course)

A low compression, running motor is still worth several hundred dollers. Depending on milage and failure you should still have useable parts. A good set of used rotors is worth $200-300, a good used iron $150 (there are 3 of them) and good housing about $150. Front cover and eccentric shaft are worth money too.
So could it be worth a lot of money?? Yes, but it is a gamble for someone to buy a used motor because the whole thing could be trash.
Your best bet is to take it apart, have it cleaned and inspected by a reputible builder. You can then decide to rebuild it for a spare or sell of the individual parts (you will get the most money this way) You can also rebuild it and sell it complete. (more cost and risk involved this way). No one will buy it with no warrenty, so your builder better have one.

yep, it has low compression.
as far as rebuilding it, mazda told me they could send it off and have it done for $5,000. way more than i want to spend on it. so it seems like I will be breaking it down and selling for parts :D.

Why would you have Mazda rebuild it, I didn't even think they do such things. Maybe you mean your local Mazda dealer service department. For anyone to pay good money for the parts you will need to have them cleaned and inspected by a professional. There are many reputable builders who can rebuild your motor for as low as $2500, but that can go way up if the internals are trash.

Mazda has no rebuild "service", all they do is they can sell u an engine that has already been rebuild.
problem is, for 5 K ? you can get a custom engine with all the bells and whistles and reliability mod all installed and ready to run.
I guess you still don't know what you are doing, you should leave your car to someone else.
