not that much of a home mechanic myself but here's a question that came over me lately, after even a short drive, i switch the car off, the fan turns on by itself, this doesn't happen before so far i've noticed, but recently it happens, is something wrong with the car? it's not overheating, but the fan sometimes turns on after i shut it off....anybody know why?... thanks

 

Its normal.
I've had mine run up to 10min after I shut it off... I cant imagine some of these Arizona guys, probably runs all night long..

 

I had mine run for about 20 one day. Go buy something from mazsport called something like cooling fan relay mod for about 150. Brings ur temps down 15 degrees because it turns on your fans at 10 degrees cooler. Fan will stay on less after you shut off the engine.

 

how are you sure its not overheating?

Enough oil? / Water?

 

It is normal. Mazda talks about this in the user's manual that comes with the car (on page 8-9 or somewhere around there).
