Figuring out a hose

Hey I was wondering what a specific hose is for? It is attached to the oil filling pipe, the PO has a breather on it and that just doesn't seem right.

Also is it okay if I remover it?

I forgot whose original drawing this was, but I want to say thanks for it.

That pipe is supposed to be connected to the intake tube.

Most people install a catch can in case you get oil overflow and it spits it out that tube so it doesn't dump a bunch of oil into the intake. If it just has a breather it'll end up all over your engine bay and isn't very safe.

It's essentially the PVC emissions hose. It allows crankcase blowby gases to flow back into the intake rather into the atmosphere like with that breather. It needs to be vented somewhere. Do not block it off.

OMG.....search!

Actually it feeds vapors(well.....oil in some case as well) back into the intake tube.

I suggest you go search out "catch can" and you will see that a good many of us take that line from the oil filler neck to a catch can and then take either the output of the catch can to a breather(vent to atmosphere) or run a hose back to the intake(accordion tube). Pretty much just for a little insurance purpose and maybe save the butterfly from getting all gooey and possibly air filter getting soaked in oil. Shouldn't be that much blow back though. Overfilling oil or adding too fast may contribute as well.

If you do NOT run the hose back to the intake, you must cap it off at the intake. But at the same time, if you just have a breather(filter) at the output of the filler neck, that could be a bad idea if you get blow back(oil everywhere or dripping).
Do NOT cap it on the filler neck side!

Sorry, as I was typing others beat me to the punch.
Jeez, that was a rather tame response there TEAM...........WTF? Where is that link you've been throwing around lately?

If oil is going into the intake there is a problem that needs to be determined and corrected. You will find that there is no shortage of half-witted knucklehead engineering on this site. Apparently the PO suscribed to that logic level.
