flash news flash
ok,
the new flash is out...
some of you know of the problems i have had... the sudden powerloss on cruise.... i have pm many about this issue...
well now i can talk about it...
the new flash add more oil during light cruise conditons... what was happening was under light throttle for extended periods of time not enough oil was getting into motor to keep the seals sealed...
gasses would start to get by, engine temp and cat temp would go way up. and you lose the ability to accellerate...
if you let it go long enough you get knock, and then you lose the ability to get over 4k rpm.. (feels like a clogged cat)
then you let it cool down and all is fine...
i have know about this for about 2 months now and could not talk openly about it...
i have also been running pre mix during that time, and not one problem with it during that time...
the flash also is supposed to smooth the idle a bit...
i will let you know, am getting done in the morning..
beers

this would be T for the 04 cars MT and Auto not sure the level for 05s or even if they would need it, but i suspect they would. we'll know more of course once the TSB hits. havent even actually seen the flash yet and i looked for it earlier. maay have missed it. this one took awhile becausde of the need to pass it by epa and carb- changing oil usage could change emissions etc

damn swoope, I wait nearly 2 years to go in and get flashed and now there's another one. an important one no less.
wonder if this was the cause of engine deaths out in the SW. high temps, long distances, cruising speed with light throttle...

alway knew my car ran better with the pre mix!!!!!! Good news man! the community I know appreciates your do diligence. I wonder also if the wgt of the recommended oil will change? No way will I run a 5W20 in the summer in GA..Oil pressure at oil temp of 212F is supposed to be around 52 at 3K. Mine could never make that. It would be around 48 or so. I know , I know many factors influence this BUT my car runs better with the 5W 30 RP in the summer here. I can feel it but then i have a sensitve butt)chewed out a lot!)

yep my next change is in about 2 wks and I have rp 10W/30 on the selve. I use for pre mix a 50/50 blend of lucas upper clylinder lube/injector cleaner mixed with Yamaha synthetic motorcycle racing premix oil. I use 1/2oz per gallon(basically). Lot of good premix's out there. this is just what I choose.

nope,
not at all... i have just finished ~ 2 k miles running like this and no difference in the tail smoot...
i will comment that the smoot with rp syn. is much lighter on the tail pipes and easier to get off....
seems like it burns more complete. and is more like ash than the gump from standard oil.
