where did you hear that nonsense. Mazda pays labor. but like any company they state how much time they will pay for any given repair. they say it takes 1 hour but the service tech takes 2? mazda pays the 1 and the 2nd comes out of the dealers pocket

Not my problem still, Im not paying, simple as that.
but after those words that they've said ..... Im not sure if I Want to go back there anymore ... not like its close or anything. The only reason I go there because they have a Loaner ...
*Edited* just called them, they said I have "too" many issues and its NOT going to be done by today .... yeah, sure. I got my car in this morning at 8 something. Its 3:40 now. lets just say if they start working on my car at 12, 3 hours something already it should be done soon ... yeah I know there are other cars there but whatever .... I'll just stick with the MPV for now ...

Well, I got mine flashed today, at least the jerks did it under warrantee, even though I have almost 80k on the car. The hot weather cruising/power loss seems to have been fixed, but now the car idles very slowly and unevenly. It used to idle at about 850 rpm, now it's down to about 750 and when you push in the clutch coming to a stop, it almost stalls, then picks up to about 500 and inches it's way up to 750. If I sit at a light for awhile it finally comes back up to 850. It has stalled twice when coming to a stop. NO problem starting back up, but with these borderline starters and the extra cranking of the rotary to begin with, it's just what it needs, to be started a couple extra times a day. I'll call and complain tomorrow and see what they say. The tech made a note on my paperwork that it idled rough, probably due to a faulty motor mount. Hmmmmmmmm, it didn't idle rough before you worked on it and it has no other signs of a bad motor mount...........in fact it had none of the symptoms with idling it has now. It acts like a carbed car that is too rich on the idle jet. Rev it and let it come back to idle and it nearly dies, then picks up to too high an idle and finally settles down. A couple of times today, at lights, it dropped idle way down, then jumped up to about 1200 rpm and then settled back to the lower 750 rpm.
I'm a bit concerned that the solution to most problems seems to be just dump even more gas into the engine.
I have several issues at play. I need more room, my wife now refuses to go on any more trips in the 8 - due to lack of pasenger comfort, and I'm getting my avatar back out of mothballs now that both daughters are out of college and need something that will pull a light car and trailer (1200 to 1400 lb. total). Because Mazda is a great and loyal customer with my business, I'll return the favor, again. I'm thinking about a CX7. I was pretty impressed with one short test drive, it's time for a more extended one. My vendor status with Mazda gets me S-plan pricing - I got it on my 8 - so I should be able to get the $27,500 one I like for about 24k. I got my 30k sticker 8 for 26,400 on S-plan, back when they weren't discounting a penny on 8's in my area (3/04).
MY mom is now breathing down the neck of 83 and she's going to come live with us. It's pretty cruel asking her to crawl in and out of my RX8 and I need an extra vehicle and insurance payment like I need another wife........can I trade her on the CX7?

Zoom: when this finally shows up as a recall, you should start a new sticky thread. It'll be easier for those who haven't been following this thread to know what's going on.

I have started driving 110 highways miles a day for my new job and there is little to no soot in the pipes after 2 days of this, is that normal for highway cruising? Before just driving around town they would be covered in no time. Is this a good sign? btw, this is with cruise set on 72-74.

Since it's my first post here, first I am gonna say hi to everyone. I am from Nor Cal and I own a 04 black 8 with 45K miles. I've been reading this forum for a month now, this is the most useful and time well spent forum since I last join vwvortex.
To make long story short, here's my qeustion, my car currently has a N flash and I really want the latest S, is there a way to get my car refresh to the latest S version even thought the dealer said there's no reflash available for my car yet? Apparently they checked my VIN in the data base....
Another question is, are those Service Bulletin work covered by factory warranty?
Thanks!!!

oh hey Zoom, I got a question.
I just got my car back today and it looks like they changed most of the stuff I asked them to ... They even threw a new starter and plug set in .... my 8 isnt in the VIN range but .... wow, its a like a night and day different !!!!!!!!!!!!!! woooOOOO the new starter sound rules ! :-D (it really start alot faster now!)
Ok, back to question, they reflashed my thing, on my paperwork it saids
N3K9EE00013H6020 to N3ZDEF00013M6020
I know the first one is the "R" flash for 2005s. does that mean they flash my thing to the newer "S" flash? Cuz after a few drive cycles it seems that theres much much less rough Idle with A/C on.
Thx ZooM

The flash fix the Rough Idle with AC on. At least it works for me.
And now my engine revs more happily, maybe due to the fact that They pump a little more engine oil now with the new flash![Smilie](https://www.rx8club.com/images/smilies/smile.gif)
And the engine sudden shut down issue I dont know, havent try it yet(not like I want to try it) but This is what will force Mazda to issue a recall.

FYI...i was at the dealer this morning to address a few issues and get an oil change. the invoice showed an unknown line which the service advisor and i believe must be the impending flash recall. of course, he said that he couldnt flash my car until it comes out officially. even though i told him about the rough idle with the AC (which mine does have), he didnt seem to understand that flash would have anything to do with it. seeing as how i've never dealt with this service advisor (my old one seems to have been promoted), i didn't feel like arguing.
