Does that mean it is considered flash "3" for use 6sp owners? Do you have any other details on the flash, Zoom?

That's only 220:1 or so. That is pretty diluted.

Do 2006s need the new flash? It seems like there are only files for 2005s and older.

Zoom44, I live in NJ and go to Wayne Mazda. I'm bringing my car their for the heat shield recall and brake squeal and wanted to get the flash when I was there. I've heard people say that it is a good dealership, but I tried talking to them twice before and they had no idea what a flash was. Should I just ask them for the most current WDS...they would have to understand that, wouldn't they??

You guys will need to give the dealers about a month to get their systems updated. They will likely send out a TSB at some point in the new two weeks which we'll see on Rosenthal Mazda's web site.

I just wanted to drop my 2 cents regarding premix. I use RP 5-30 and pre-mix with Lucas Upper Cylinder Lube. I have never had any of the above problems. I have done this for the last 15k or so. I pulled the cat at about 26k, and with the way everyone goes through cats, I was expecting a black pile of melted crap, but to my suprise, I had a very healthy cat! The car just seems to love the 5-30 and premix. I use a mixture of about 100:1, which is higher than the bottle states, however, it also indicates that higher ratios pose no harm. I will be pulling my original plugs in the next week or so (about 30k) and will post thier condition. I have had o miss-fires and no noticable loss in performance. (Although, worn plugs would be gradual, probably.)

just wait awhile until there is a tsb like brillo said. as for wayne mazda- tell them to update your pcm to the latest version. tell them to hook the m:mds( the new version of the WDS) to your car but first make sure they have the most recent update which is 43.8(or later) released 6/16

not all cars show this problem... but heat tends to bring it out.... location...

the fact that you are pre mixing does solve the problem if it did exhist...

i had a certian cycle i could put my car through to make the problem occur.... will be able to try it next week....

idle update

ok,
the flash takes care of the big hit when the ac turns on... it took a few drive cycles for it to happen, but now that really rough feeling is gone...

it might idle just a little rougher over all... but it is SO much better....

QMD dealers might have it earlier, but I would say 2-3 weeks is a safe bet.

I had mine sent to CA and it fixed the rattling. Have had it back for almost a month and no problems. The whole "I wish i could speak more openly about it" thing is bullshit... Mazda and their "secret flashes" and the lack of information is really crazy... Im just glad its fixed...

Wow, this sounds like exactly the problem I had when I took my car on its first road trip a little over a year ago. I've got another trip down South coming up for the 4th, but it's unlikely the dealer will have the flash ready to go when I take it in for the 20K mile service tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be as hot this time.

If I did indeed have that problem (I assume so, all the symptoms were there), is it possible that my cat was damaged as a result? Can I rely on the dealer to check on this when I take it in tomorrow, or is there a way for me to easily confirm it on my own tonight? I wouldn't mind freeing up some power if it turns out my cat is clogged or damaged.

If the flash isn't ready, you can add premix oil to the gas. That will add more lubrication just lke the flash would.

really,

it was not a secret flash... it is a flash that just came out. i just happened to know about it for a couple of months and was asked to keep it of the boards, which i did...

would you prefer they dont test it????
