Flooded Engine
Has Anybody Have Any Idea How To Start Your Car When You Flooded Out The Engine.
I Started The Car To Many Times, And Didn't Go Anywhere, Now All It Does Is Crank, With No Start.
Thanks

Prepare to get flamed. Not by me though. The owners manual has a proceedure, but once its flooded you will never start it. If your car is under warranty, call road side and have it towed to the dealer. Make sur they know about the TSB to replace the plugs, starter and battery if yours is an earlt 2004. There are some other threads about this. Search flooded engine. Good luck.

Accually, the early manuals did not have the instructions. The dealer should have an instruction page that goes in these manuals. Also, search technical service bulletins for flooding and you will find the proceedure. But as I said, it never works.

You can tow the cRX-8 behind another vehicle while in gear and try to start it that way. You have to screw in the front tow hook into the car to do this..... Best thing is to have it towed to the dealer if you are still under warranty. They will then give you a new starter and new plugs.

GOT IT STARTED! THIS IS WHAT I DID, HOPE IT WORKS FOR OTHERS.
I HELD THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR, AND THAN CRANKED CAR FOR ABOUT 15 SEC., AND THAN TURN OFF KEY, AND RELEASED GAS PEDAL.
I WAITED FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND TURN THE KEY WITHOUT USING GAS PEDAL, AND IN ABOUT 20 SEC SHE FIRED UP SLOWLY, BUT STARTED. CAR IS FINE NOW!
HAPPY GUY AGAIN.

good for you but if you don't have the upgraded starter, it's worth having installed over the stock one.
That procedure didn't work for me. My car flooded over the weekend, so even after sitting for a few days it didn't work the following monday. ended up getting it towed to the dealer.

Does anyone know ways to purposely flood an engine? I want the new starter but no dealerships in my area will do it w/o a flooded engine. I've tried shutting the engine off immediately after starting it to no avail. Also, I have a CAI and high flow cat and catback. Can the dealership blame any of that for the flooding and not do the repairs?

No but I just simply t"old them that I had problems starting the car and they went ahead and changed it. It helped me when I brought my five year old son and said that I could not afford to break down with him in the car ever! Good Luck
