Florida heat. dash gauges vs aftermarket gauges
Well Florida summer is here and the temp. is around 90 so far. I had some aftermarket gauges installed in my car last year around august. so the heat was gone.
I am seeing my gauges go past 200 (oil temp, water temp) they were sitting around 215! i have never seen them go that high. Is it the hot weather and/or should i be looking into somthing else? i see they gauges drop down back to about 185/190 but they tend to go up quick if i have to bring the revs up.
The gauges on the dash stay the same, but i dont think they will move until damage is done..
The car i have to say runs better.. it has a smooth idle, and seems to get up and go better. I do have MAZSPORT COOLING MOD, and throttle body bypass. but Waiting on A.P map.

Stock water gauge moves beyond 235 F, correct me if wrong.
I dont depend on it tho. I have Defi water temp, oil temp and oil pressure gauge installed.
Just keep an eye on it and dont let it go pass 230, u will mostly be fine.

yeah i believe the stock water gauge is arond the 230 mark mine did it the first day i moved into florida last may and went a little bit past halfway then i stopped and shut it off while the fan ran for about 20 minutes

if your oem gauge start moving, you're pretty much heat soaked already. Be VERY careful driving at those temps, you don't want to push your car too much.
Get yourself the Racing Beat gauge pod and you'll be set.

yeah i have sport comp2 with racing beat gauge pod. my dash gauge never moves when it gets warm. It sits on the white logo. and never changes
I was saying my water temp and oil temp on my aftermarket gauge was sittin about 215. i havent seen it go that high, but it has been the first time we were actually hot outside. since i installed the gauges back in august

^wow 230 would scare me.... I hate hot days cause i'm always watching my stock dash gauge(since that's all I have) and if it starts to move(which it hasn't in a yr) past norm..it's gettin pulled over and shut off...

pulling over and shutting off isn't always the best move though. Keep going at an easy pace (little engine load) and get some more cold air in that thing.
230 was scary though. We were in Vegas for the annual meet and Saturday morning was when we all chose to go for a leisurely drive. We ended up outside of Vegas going up some hill and got stuck in a ton of traffic. Ambient temps were about 112° and all of a sudden we've got bumper to bumper RX-8's (can we say... NO air flow?) Temps started going up QUICKLY.
As soon as we put some distance between the cars and got moving we were doing better. Problem with places like Vegas (unlike FL) is that there's NO HUMIDITY. It's amazing what a little more water in the air does for cooling. (or lack of )

yeah that's the prob around here is that the only time i ever had trouble was in traffic so the only option wasto pull off and let it cool off...i basically live in the middle of the city so traffic sometimes gets hectic....
BHR radiator and mazmart waterpump....is a good upgrade from what i hear!

hmm il look into them, thanks!
also a good point was brought up, do not turn your car off right away if it startd going up in temp. If you do that it might explode some hoses. its better to move steady turn your heater on adn pray it drops!

^ oh yes i know this anytime that it's hot out even if it's not overheating or anything i always let it run for awhile at idle to move some coolant through with the fan running.....don't want heat soak
