So I get my car back from the recall. Didn't need a new motor or anything. Just replaced the plugs and motor mounts. Anyway, I was told my injectors need to be flushed which isnt covered under warranty and would cost me $120 + tax out of pocket. What is flushing the injectors and is this something I would really have to do?

Flushing the injectors on a car with under 50,000 miles either isn't required or covered under warranty.

For the most part Chevron makes one of the best injector cleaners and a few bottle over the next few fillups will do as much as the $120 flush-job.

If you've gone over 12 months without using a windshield wiper sharpener, you're likely losing 4-6 mpg. Get your blades sharpened asap.

PS: Pay the extra $40 for the platinum version. Silver one sucks.

If you run quality/name brand gasoline, it comes with detergents added to take care of the cleaning of the fuel injectors. As kartweb said, go to the autoparts store and a a container to the tank the next time or two you fill up.
But, I don't think you need the cleaning service. It most likely was the dealer trying to fatten his wallet.

I remember Honda telling me that my throttlebody needed to be devarnished and lubed. Don't fall for crap like this. There are 2 ways to clean injectors. 1 is to put a cleaner in your gas tank. That's hardly $120. The other way is to take you intake manifold off and completely remove your injectors to have them sent off to a fuel injector company to flow test and clean. That would cost you about $20 per injector assuming you did all of your own work and personally took the injectors in. With 6 injectors to clean that right there is $120. This would turn into a several day affair. A dealership would not go to this much trouble. It is just another way they are trying to get money out of you.
