front door actuator switch

Hi everyone. My question is, is it possible to run a switch to open the door, outside beneath the door mounted where the side skirt is, that will actually open the door? I am asking because my key doesn't open the door because it has a different lock. So for example, for the switch to work, there has to be a positive and negative that electronically opens the door; so somewhere where the switch will plug into the door.

Anyone?

Thanks,

Chad

You could run a switch but your alarm will go off as soon as you open it if the unlocking wasn't done by the keyless entry module. But I'm confused, if the key for the door is different that's annoying but can you not just open the door with the keyless entry (reprogrammed to your key if necessary)?

yeah. But if I lock the door with the remote key fob, will the door stay locked if something happens to the remote - (like the battery dying). Because, then it will stay locked. With the switch under the side skirt, I can open it and it will unlock.

It would be easy to do if I knew where the wires were. That's a good point about the keyless entry module.

Thanks, I probably will NOT run the wire and just leave it unlocked.

You can change the battery in the remote without losing its coding. The wires I would run are ones for the lock/unlock switch, not the lock actuator itself. Also having wires out in the elements isn't ideal...
