I just read that there is a recall on the A-arm ball joint - you might want to have the dealer inspect it. The cause is improper forging for all 2004 cars....

umm, you can't install the OE-style endlinks on the wrong side of the car, they will only line up properly on the correct side. If it's on the wrong side the endlink will point away from one of the mounts depending on which one you connect first

As for the other potential causes of clunks, lower ball joint is definitely on the list, but I discounted it because there is no proper reason for a lower ball joint ot be going bad on a car this new, but then there are always manufacturing and engineering defects which seem to be the case. Ball joints are nothing to play around with. If you think you have that problem, get it checked by the dealer as soon as possible.

It's in the service manual that the endlinks are marked for which side they go on, and that's all that I was trying to get at. Sorry if I was oblique
I did not install the RB end links.

It is very hard describing a 'clunk' and I am not so sure what I am hearing is the same as everyone else. I continue to investigate the source of what I am hearing and will see that the bolts on my RB sway bars get the proper amount of torque. I also need to take my car in for service in the next two weeks and will ask the dealer to investigate as well.

Just to update....

I brought my 8 in for the clunk, the squeaky seat and, "if possible", the newest recall. They fixed the seat....what a difference that makes (He also said that he's never seen an 8 with a squeaky seat...hmmm).

They were, however, unable to replicate the clunking and the occasional grinding sound I get when cornering. I honestly have no idea how this is possible. The service rep said my car was as tight as a drum. There's really no explanation. It's frustrating but I'm not about to argue with the guy after he says that they took it out three times and didn't notice anything. I guess I'll bring it up again when I get the official 3305g recall notice.

He was also clueless about the recall and said he had no way to flash my car. When I showed him the TSB printout for 3305g he said that it's unfortunate stuff like that gets "leaked out" over the internet. Doesn't really bother me though....I'd rather get this taken care of when the dealer has a little experience with it first.

For the record, I had the clunking in the front sway bar (Drivers' side), had it re-torqued, and everything is fine now. Torque it towards the high end of the recommended spectrum.
