Front and rear rotors different?
I have an 04 rx8 and need to purchase a rotor.
I noticed that the front and rear rotors have diff part numbers.
Are the front and rear rotors different?
I think that with the rx7's, they are the same but need to be matched--diff batches or somthing like that.

Unsure what redcivic means by the above.
Let me put it another way..
I need to replace the front rotor on my 04 rx8. If this were my rx7, I'd simply need to find another rotor(same part number) same batch as the front/rears are the same part number, but slight differences between batches.
What do I need to do to find a front rotor that'll work for my rx8?

Well you need to BUY a Rotor FRONT for/from any RX-8...
They are basically all the same for all Series RX-8 RENESIS ENGINEs.(not same as RX-7).

I think the fronts have an F stamped on somewhere and the rears and R. There are cuts on the edges which are a give away too. I'll have my engine open soon (hopefully), and I can look at mine in order to find where exactly the stamps are. You should also look at the weight stamp of your rotor. If I'm not mistaken, the weights range from A-E (pretty sure), and you can mix rotors that are within 0 - 1 letters within each other. A - B or C-D or C-C, and etc.
Hopefully that gives you some idea just know that I haven't double checked the manual yet so the information might be slightly or colossally off.
As an aside,
If you buy brand new parts, Japanese distributors sell them for 100-200 bucks cheaper than U.S based distributors I find though if they add a large charge for
shipping calculated with the increased risk of shipping something from overseas, it may not be worthwhile for you.
