fuel cap hanger?

Not sure if I posted this in the right forum...

In Oregon, we have a no-pump-your-own gas law. This results in the pump jockeys dropping my gas cap against the fender. This irks me. While I haven't seen any paint damage from it yet, is there a hanger available for the gas cap to affix it to the inside of the fuel door? All my other cars have this.

I'm in Jersey and I have the same problem. So often I just get out of the car, open the fuel door and unscrew the cap myself (but wait for attendent to pump gas).

I'd like to know some fixes too.

This works about 75% of the time.

Good idea. Did you glue the hook on or is it staying by suction power alone?

I also considered moving the tether to the fuel door so that when it hangs it doesn't hit the body of the car, but I haven't worked out the logistics of that yet.

There is some Super Glue behind the suction cup. Been on almost 2 years.

I like the suction cup with hook. You could also use some velcro on the door and the cap.

Been that way in Jersey since 1949 and will stay that way. Any law that causes people to do more work fails. The gas stations also claim their insurance would go up if people could pump gas. Remember commen sense and New Jersey cannot be used in the same sentence. Google 'self serve gas+NJ' if you want to know more.

RX8strakes.com has a fold-up fuel cap holder for $25 delivered. Got mine on ebay.

But that little suction hook probably cost less than $5.

According to my friend in Oregon, it has something to do with augmenting the incredibly high unemployment rate.

Our gas in Oregon is still cheaper than both Washington and California. I live in a small town and I always visit the same gas station at the same time of day, and the same little vietnamese woman carefully removes my gas cap and says "your car is looking nice today".

Jersey has the cheapest gas in America - I don't mind the "can't pump your own gas law" as long as I'm getting the cheapest rates.

Yesterday I was seeing $2.68/gall all over the place.

Oh and I love the hook! I'm gonna go buy my some at the dollar store, spray paint them black and sell them on ebay for $10.00!

Good idea.

I cut the plastic peice off that holds the gas cap on the car. I now use the little metal tab at the top left hand corner of the gas door to hang my gas cap on when fueling. And anyone who pumps my gas just puts the cap on the top of the pump until he's done filling me up.

Uhh....not sure if many 8 owner knows this, but there is already a HOOK located to the right of your cap on the main body. It is hard to see because it is covered by a black plastic. I plan to WHITE-OUT this so that when they use it, they will easily spot this. The string that is attached to our gas cap will easily hook on this! Just a matter of color coding it to make it easier for people who are not familiar with our vehicle's gas holder :p

Thats not a gas cap holder its part of the mechanism for opening the door. It was metioned in a gas cap thread already.

I don't use it in fear of wrecking it.
