Fuel flow during coasting? (scangauge)

Hello,

I just got my scangauge recently. While monitoring the fuel flow gauge, I noticed that the RX8 flows ~0.5GPH even while the engine is coasting down in a gear. I am amost certain that there should be 0 fuel injector pulsewidth during coasting, is there a reason the scan gauge reports fuel flow? Is this the nature of a rotary?

Thanks

This would be the nature of any fuel burning engine......No fuel , engine stops. You will have fuel flow at idle or at any time an engine is running

while engine braking the engine doesn't need fuel to keep turning.

most cars with an instantaneous fuel consumption value will read zero or no fuel while coasting down.
would the engine stop as it is being turned over by the wheels?
things change at low rpm when a stalling condition may exist but for coasting it seems like no fuel is required.

Could it be a function of the oil injection keeping the rotors lubed?

The way the system is supposed to work during deceleration is fuel cut to both rotors when throttle valve is fully closed and fuel cut to one rotor when throttle valve is not fully closed.(Mazda Service Highlights,9999-95-102F-04,sect01-40-31).

FWIW, I just got a scangauge and mine reads 0.00GPH (gallons per hour) and 9999 MPG (infinity) when decelerating. Try setting the refresh rate to "fast"?
