Fuel Injector Info

other than using green Series 2 injectors in the p1 position, the combination P1 red - sec and p2 blue is an ok combination.
why not P1 yellow and sec and P2 blue 380, 480, 480? wouldn't the ratio between p1 and secondaries be improved over the 290-480-480 combo?

quite simply, the red and green injectors have a much better spray pattern for a smoother idle. after all, they are used in the P1 from the get go.
for ratio of P1 to Sec, yes 380/480/480 can work.

i was surprised at the difference injectors made in my low boost Pettit engine
I have been running a tested oem setup for a long time, but very recently i installed a pair of 550's ( modified yellows with verified pulse flow rate at 55psi of fuel pressure) in the p2 spot. I left the others alone. I thought the car may run a bit rich but i was preparing for a tuning session with Steve Kan and he likes 1000cc of available fuel per 100hp I est that I have 275-300 at the wheels?. This was the as close as I could get to that with what I have.
Well --the results impressed me. yes i am running richer than I was when the p2's come on board--but that obviously was what my engine wanted. Normally, when i was running in an area that was tuned for a low 13 afr for example I am now running mid to low 12's and the engine is noticeably more responsive and stronger. Go figure. Just shows I need more tuning?
This swap did not affect my ltft's very much at all and that too surprised me..

P2's aren't on during idle or cruise, so they should not affect your trims at all.

lol Team----you didnt read it all. 13's was only during partial throttle and after the ssv has opened but before the apv's.
Actually I have only went full throttle once (in 2nd gear) after this engine was installed. a/f was 11/1 then. Feel better?
I am waiting for my tune --next week--before i load this engine much at all.
Just got ahold of a pair of the 09 primarys to install before then too. Slowing coming.

I have an 05 standard trans with 103,000miles on it and i want to change the injectors, how many primaries and secondaries are there? how do i know if i have the four port or the six port? after it warms up it doesnt quite have the pickup as it does when its only been running for a n hour. but i figure with that many miles they need to be changed anyway, opinions please?

Stock engines don't need injector upgrades....there is more than enough fuel
If you are worried that they aren't working correctly...pull them and have them cleaned and flow tested..then they will be good as new

Doesn't quite have the pickup is very vague.
Either way, I think you should look somewhere other then fuel injectors.
Fuel pressure, engine compression, spark plugs, ign wires, coils??? All more common failures then the injectors.

I am replacing all my fuel injectors with the recommended best setup.
Looks like MazdaManiac provided a part number for the greens.
Question:What is the number for the Browns?
I have the 04 RX-8, these injectors are compatible?
Where is the best place to buy these, or anyone have any like new injectors for sale?
Also, I looked and it seems that there is not a DIY for injection replacement... Bummer.

They just changed the bore size....it is better to fit aftermarket injectors if it is larger....it has no effect on anything else...the lower surface is where the o-ring seal is

Number one tip, take digital pictures and mark the leads before removal.
I hope this is correct, please feel free to correct any errors....
Fuel Rail 1 (two injectors)
Both leads for this fuel rail come off of the main harness together.
Front rotor injector wire color is light-green and red. (Front Primary 1)
Front injector Wire lead has White colored tape
Rear rotor injector wire color is light-green and black. (Rear Primary 1)
Rear injector Wire lead has Tan colored tape.
Fuel Rail 2 (four injectors)
The two center (the middle) injector wires come off the harness together and split.
Front side of the middle split has Yellow colored tape.
Rear side of the middle split has Green colored tape.
The two end (front and rear) injector wires come off the harness separately and have no colored tape.
The front injector wire is Green and Red. (Front Secondary)
The front rotor middle injector wire is Black and Blue. (Front Primary 2)
The rear rotor middle injector wire is White and Green. (Rear Primary 2)
The rear injector wire is Black and Blue. (Rear Secondary)

Has anyone else noticed this diagram is for an LHD? I'm 99.9% sure that doesn't change the arrangement of the injectors... just thought I'd revive one of the better threads I've referred to a thousand times.

I can tell you that I found out this past weekend Houstonrx8er and I found that the injector wiring info bumblebeerx8 posted and this wiring diagram seen here are different from each other and then the wires on Houstonrx8ers were even different colors on some of the injectors than the colors listed here. They are both a good start but not totally accurate. I am glad we numbered the connectors.
