Fumoto Oil Drain Valve

One of our guys over at the Team V-Locity forum stumbled across this thing and posted about it. Anybody here ever heard of or have any opinoins or theories about this:

It's a drain valve that replaces your oil drain plug. When you change your oil, you just unlock the handle (lift it up) and turn it 90 degrees. It sounds pretty good, and it's just over $20.

I'm going to call them today and see if they have a valve for my RX-8.

Been using one for a while, they are excellent. Oil change can be done anywhere at any time with no tools.

The way the lever locks into place(upwards, even) means that theres no real chance of it coming open. If you snag something bad enough to pull that thing open it will probably be something where the valve is the least of your worries(ripping the oilpan off).

My only regret is that I didn't install one when I bought the car initially.

That thing would hit man hole covers or my driveway.

I'm so low to the ground.

it's horizontal. It's not going to hit anything - your oil pan would hit the ground first.

It works great. Total price is more like $35 with shipping and everything. I had the fram sure drain prior to this, and that ran around $15. The fumoto valve is worth the cost. I recommend it.

Yes, it's horizontal, you just need the 'extension' to let it clear the pan.

I had the SureDrain too, it was OK, but drained VERY slowly. I junked it.

i can deal with slow - but the hose falls off the metal drain part. Also it's a pain in the *** to screw in and out. And there's oil all over the hose afterwards. The Fumoto valve is no mess. Open it, drain, seal it. Done.

I have the valve for over 20K miles.

but Im going to throw it away soon, it drains WAY too slow, and due to my MS bodykit I have to drive my car on a Rhino Ramp before I can do oil change anyway. Im gonna go back to old school style ----- Drain plug with new washers.

Mine's worked fine for nearly 4 years. Drains well enough with the oil warmed up (as it should be) and the car fairly level. Besides, who cares how long it takes to drain? You don't have to lie there and stare at it. By the time I get the filter changed out it's ready to be closed back up. It really is an elegant solution and don't have to fiddle with crush washers!
