G-tech pro meter

G-tech pro meter
Got bored one day and I found a g-tech pro meter in ebay. It can tell you HP, 1/4 mile time and trap, g-force, and your HP by inputing your vehicle weight. I know its not as accurate as the track or the dyno but for something you can get less than $100 its cheaper than getting a few pulls in the dyno or going to the track.
Anyone else have or experience a G-meter with your 8?
I want to know how to use it more accurately.

the iphone version is not accurate....
omar says he pulls a 14.2 1/4 on a nearly stock rx8. hahahah. nope. he'd need ~225whp.
remember that tire size changes (with wear) and if you have lower profile tires (i run 245/40s) than stock it will be off too. i bet with my tires the iphone calculator would say i run 13s. thats why calculating it from inside the car is not accurate.

I have the Dynolicious software installed on my iPhone ($13.99) that is supposed to be competitive with the G-tech and the folks over at Garage 419 tested the two side by side to see which was more accurate. Your results may vary, but theirs was a bit more accurate than the G-tech.
I don't have a drag strip nearby, so I have not been able to test out that functionality. I purchased it more to see what it would do for autocross, but the program shuts off if you take a hard turn, so you never get a good reading.
The argument that calculating the horsepower from inside the car is not accurate is pretty flawed. You listed ways that you can fake out a dyno and then applied them to something that has nothing to do with the horsepower calculated by using accelerometers. The software takes the value that you enter for the weight of the car and then based on the data from the accelerometers can calculate the HP of your car. Provided you mount the phone securely, you should not have any issues getting a good reading.
