Yeah, I use no-ethanol premium. Thankfully I have two stations close to me. I fill up, drive two miles home, right before my next drive I premix my premix, pour it in a go. On trips it is a bit messier and 10% ethanol usually get in the mix.

I premixed my premix 3 times. I said F-that business, and now I eye out 4oz before fill up.

Man, you kit the nail on the head!I'll jack on this thread, too!

So the guvment didn't think shoveling money to farmers not to grow crops was good enough. They, had to up the anty!

Humm, lets see, where to dump more processed corn products. We've already saturated the all the soft drinks, and fake fruit juice in the food chain, and the sheeple are starting to catch on that they're getting fat from the high fructose corn syrup.

I know, I know, we'll use the guise of lowering the richness of the fuel ratio of cars for pollution control by mandating 10% ethanol. Bingo!More Billions$ shoveled to those miracle farming conglomerates.

Ethanol is wonderful fuel for Indy cars or guys wanting to run high compression like 15 or more to 1 compression for some racing application, but when its put in fuel it takes away mileage so it is all wasted, and can damage fuel system, etc.

Even the EPA has discovered it is a total BTU from crop to use waste!

Welcome to Idiocracy!

^^too bad, tree huggers just cared about CO and NoX numbers. they don't care if it takes 2-3 times as much fuel to travel same if not less distance. in the other words, they fail math and life.

I'm sure the tree huggers also know that the co and nox levels aren't far off the levels of gasoline. It burns like fuel cause it is fuel.
I always chose the ethanol free premium gas.

Ethanol free gas. There's a thought that would eliminate the need for sta-bil during the winter months when I don't drive the car. Sorry just thinking out loud.

Secondary Shutter Valve (SVV) and premix.

I premix my 2005 RX 8 since (nearly) new, additionally to the (relatively poor dosing) OMP.
I am interested to know whether one positive side effect of premix could be a reduced risk of a stuck Secondary Shutter Valve (SVV) or not............I personally tend to believe that there is some positive effect since carbon deposits seem to be less or softer with premixing.
I could not find any data/answer via the searchfunction.
Any opinion/comment is very welcome.

Best regards, Ruud

VDI sticking open and AUX 5th and 6th port actuators sticking open WILL be a problem with S2 engines also regardless of it's slightly different design. The old S4 and S5 Rx7's had problems all the time with sticking aux 5th and 6th port actuators. For those of you that have never pulled these engines apart, carbon will work it's way far up the intake runners causing those components to stick/freeze open. Revving your engine on a regular bases helps since it keeps these components in operation on a regular bases, however revving still wont prevent the carbon from still building up the runners. This is where I found that premixing was very helpful. Not only is it the absolute best way to lube the rotary combustion chamber and fight carbon, but when the injectors spray the fuel/2 cyl oil mixture, you get an oil film that evenly distributed all over. This film will also work it's way up the intake runners. As long as you have an oil film, carbon can't stick to it.

I personally have a 91 Rx7 NA convertible that I rebuilt 5 years ago that gets granny driven all the time. When I say granny driven, I need shifting at 3k all the time with NO hi rpm revving. The engine have 45k on it. Based on my driving habits, my engine should be carbon infested but it's not. My OMP doesn't work so I've premixed that entire time. My aux actuators still move freely and I haven't driven my car in a year and a half.

Now my advice to all you S2 owners is to premix. Yes I understand Mazda improved the S2 OMP set-up but even that system will never lube the combustion chamber was fell as premixing will. I can assure you that is fact based on how Mazda designed the OMP delivery system.

I'm the original owner of my '04 and have never pre-mixed... and my SSV was clean (light film) last time I looked.
But pre-mixing isn't a bad thing anyways so I'm not going to discourage people from doing it, I just wouldn't bet money on it preventing valves from sticking.

Hi, plane ole ******,

Many thanks for the two posts you have found; very interesting.
Indeed, two opposite experiences, each different.........the first positive one seems strong in his explanation.........with the second one I wished to know since when he premixed and at what ratio.........
Unfortunately I notice now that I try to influence the truth (as far a it can be determined) to the positive one........not a good thing of course.

Best regards, Ruud

So would premixing with Lucas's UCL alone be a good mix?

I am reading so much back and forth in this thread and I think UCL is a good idea from reading the posts here.

I am fixinf to buy a used 05 w/73k and definetly want to make sure i am helping prolong the life of the rotary engine.

I have used lucas UCL as a premix for ~4 months then switched to idemitsu. Idemitsu just seem more of a legit product for the rx8 since it was made for rotary from the start. LUCL may or may not work, but why question when you have a specific made-for rx8 product?

2005 GT/AT with 35,000 miles.
12-15 miles/Gal. City, 22-24 highway before premixing.

Just started premixing a couple of tanks ago. Using Castrol "Power RS TTS 2T"
Synthetic 2 Stroke at a 400:1 ratio. Will post info as it comes.

Oil specs are here.
http://www.castrol.com/liveassets/bp...werRSTTS2T.pdf

I found this Ratio web site, works well.
http://www.csgnetwork.com/oilfuelcalc.html

Already starts easier and seems to idle smoother. We'll see.

I use UCL on my 08. I have about 19,000 miles on it. I do not drive it very hard... just the redline runs a couple times per week.

Why I use Lucas UCL: I have to run a CAT (smog laws), so I need a CAT friendly product. UCL is a fuel system lubricant designed to be run in a gas 4 stroke engine with a CAT and is also supposed to help with carbon buildup. I don't race or have FI so I figure the little extra protection from the UCL is better than just having the stock OMP working.

Some people have report some problems with their fuel pump sock getting clogged but is that the UCL or something else?

Ethanol Free gas ... I just wish I can get them, its just gonna be worst cuz 15% is coming ...

Premix is good ... I will premix even if I have a S2

and yes, S4/S5 Rx-7 always have stuck aux port ... just rev it once in a while it will be fine.

im gonna take my S5 NA engine apart in a month or 2. and im gonna post some pics

I used to use Lucas UCL. Good stuff but my filter sock was was nasty when I replaced the whole pump assembly with a new BHR unit. There are plenty of cat safe 2 stroke oils. Just don't use TC3W rated 2 stroke.

Anybody have a link to an Idemitsu distributor bookmarked? I know they've been posted in this thread 100 times, but it's buried way down in there, and I don't feel like re-scrubbing all 122 pages.

FWIW, I can confirm what others have been saying about the soot created on the exhaust outlet when using Sabre pro. It is definitely a lot less accumulation when comparing it to when I used Idemitsu. Now I am not sure exactly what it means, but just wanted to throw it out there.

Why not just use this..

http://www.seafoamsales.com/why-sea-...ent-works.html

It lubricates, is cheap, is available everywhere and it has many other benefits. If you look at the site you will see that it has been around for a long time and has no chemical additives, a proven product for over 60 years.

Not sure, just asking..
