Gas/Oil Premix Thread

thats the latest----if you have dirty gas you will have problems. pre mix will compund that--but it is thought to be affecting the pump--not the filter. we still have the problem of fuel starvation on the track and fi boys are having problems with the stock fuel system. nothing has been solved--just a better focus obtained.
MM glad yall have clean gas out that way--send me some.
meanwhile us dirty gas boys will keep a high level of gas in the tank so as much sediment as possible can be washed out of the ruel pump unit and doesnt settle. Best lodgic approach i can think off.

Yeah, not letting it go down means it will just accumulate.
You want to keep disturbing the bottom of the tank so that it dissolves as best as it can.
Track days will probably do that pretty well.

the thing about it is that you want enough gas in the tank to continue to move fresh gas in and out the little sump tank. Dont run low and let it build up in there.
i dont think we will have any difficulty keeping it stirred up!

If the filter accumulating oil really was the issue it wouldn't just happen under track cornering, it would be a continuous issue that would just as easily occur in a straight line with a low tank level and not just on long track sweepers in one particular direction, totally retarded ...

Wow guess you should get a few extra bottles next time you order premix ~_* .

Given your pump problems, I don't know if you would be happy with that.
I run 8 - 10 oz with the OMP still hooked up (but, seemingly, not operating).

Whew, 21 pages later....
Ok, finally got around to reading this... Going to start premixing this weekend. I have my list of stuff that will work, so I'll just check around the PB/AZ/AAP to see what they got. I have a gas mileage log with every fillup since I got the car, so I have a pretty good handle on what my gas mileage looks like (18.5 hw / 13 city - "You have a heavy foot! You'll blow yourself to pieces!!")
Anyway, got a couple questions:
1) Anyone using premix in colder climate? I plan to do alot of winter driving, and temps in upstate NY can get to -40 at times. Any issues with the premix clumping or gelling and settling on the bottom of the gas tank?
2) In general, anyone have any issues starting the car after letting it sit a while (say a week or more)?

Can we get a summarization of the main points here? All I got was use 1/2 oz per gallon of something synthetic with no castor. And there is a potential premixing will do voodoo to your fuel filter.. Does that sound right? How does something like the FP60 get into picture? Can you alternate using that with a 'real' 2-cycle oil? Or do you have to sit there mixing 2 oz of one and 2 oz of the other?
