I just started using the Idemitsu Premix. I have filled up three times using the premix. The reason that I am posting is because I am getting Civic-like gas mileasge. I drive 50 miles each way to and from work (*it's Cali.), and normally I'd have to fill up around 240 mile range. The last two fill-up, I went over 300 miles, which is something that hasn't ever happened.

The car run smoothly as ever, so I am looking at it as a good sign. Did anyone else have such a noticeable mileage gain? I only use like 5 oz per 12-13 gallon fil-up, so I don't think I am using a lot of it.

I love my car and hope that using the Idemitsu products help my 8 last for a long, long time.

I'd take recommendations if there are better products for my car.

I got somewhere between 5-10% improvement . Your result seems a bit unreal - are you sure you haven't changed your driving habits as well ?

Does anyone know off the top of their head if the Idemitsu premix has a finite shelf-life?

I found a little plastic graduated cylinder that should work fine. I'll keep it, along with a quart of premix, in some kind of spill-proof Tupperware-like container in the trunk. And a roll of paper towels is always a good item to have stashed in the trunk.

The Idemitsu ratio (1/2 oz. per gal.) makes it super easy, as has been noted.

Gallons pumped/2 = oz. Idemitsu

I've had three fill-ups, and I did not notice the difference until the second. I'd say I used to get somewhere between 250 mile range from full to when the warning light comes on. Last two fill-ups I got just below 300 miles before the warning light came on. I said I went over because if I continued without filling-up, I could have driven over 300. With 14 gallon tank, I guess it's feasible to get that kind of mileage. I just haven't had that kind of mileage before.

I drive mostly on the freeways. Out of 100 mile daily commute, I'd say I drive less than 2 miles on the local streets. I also drive an AT. Maybe the combination of freeway driving and being AT made the difference more noticeable.

That bottle reminded me of the "Sta-bil" bottle. It's a fuel stabilizer that I use in my stored gas for my stand-by generator. There's a main bottle as a reservoir, and an upper section for metering-out precise amounts. You just squeeze the big bottle to fill the upper section.

It's perfect! Next time I empty a Sta-bil bottle, I'm re-using it for premix.

Based on the bottle photo above, it appears that Idemitsu is not dyed? I recently picked up some Pennzoil 100% Synthetic Marine that I've added to two tanks so far...the stuff is a ridiculous dark blue color. I've read that someone using this type of 2 stroke pulled their fuel filter and found it filled with "black goo". I'd imagine the filter is removing the dye? Blech...

I need to order some Idemitsu.

Many of these oils have huge quantities of dye, so that the resulting mixed gas can be easily identified in a gas can.

Yep, I'm aware of the reason for the dye...just wanted to verify that Idemitsu contains none of it.

Pre-Mix newbie here. Is it too late to start premixing? At 80,000kms now and want to preserve my car as long as possible.

never too late, kinda quitting smoking

seriously though, you will probably see a significant mileage / power increase with good quality premix if you're already up to 50k miles without any premix

On my very first tank of premix, the engine seemed to idle smoother, however I did get a verifiable modest improvement in mileage of almost 3 mpg. I was surprised, to say the least.

I dug out my last invoice for Idemitsu premix, if anyone is interested.

Case of premix - $45.70 (12 qts)
Shipping - 13.00
P&L charge - 1.17

Total $59.87

I ordered it on-line from Mazdatrix in Signal Hill, CA, since they are the closest Idemitsu distributor to my location, listed on the Idemitsu Website. Total transit time was 3 days, UPS ground. Several states away.

I didn't shop around so you may find a better price, but it certainly sounds reasonable to me, from what others have told me they pay. Also I thought that the shipping charges were reasonable for a 25 lb. package. Mazdatrix also emailed me on-line tracking information.

I got about the same price and excellent service from Rotary Performance as well - I have ordered twice from them.

may work - except i'm the only one here using it and I'm not sure I need quite that much
For comparison : just about any synthetic 2 stroke oil here is $30/liter so it's about the same as importing Idemitsu .......
