I too premix with Idemitsu and wait for the fuel light to come on before refilling.

I think the fuel pumps are just known to be weak and that is why some members do not recommend waiting for the idiot light to go on. This will cause unnecessary wear on the fuel pump over time when it could be prevented by filling up 50 miles befor the light turns on.

some of us still do . But Swoope has had issues with that so he is calling it from his own experience .

I'm using the Castrol as well ATM . Don't like the smell much though - want to swap to something that smells like race fuel - anyone know what would do that ?

Just started premixing with Lucas UCL, mainly because it is easy to find around here, and many people like it. Bought a couple of the little bottles and just refill them every week or two. Very easy.

Don't know if I should I mix that with a 2-stroke oil though for better lubrication? Or is it a decent all in one? The opinions seem mixed. I am using the recommended 5w20 oil as my car only has 7k.

I just bought the Amsoil Saber Pro and in comparison with Idemitsu Premix, the Amsoil is a lot darker !!! I do not know if the premix color is important but this is just an observation.

Here is Greece Saber Pro Costs 10 Euros per bottle (946ml). This means 13,276 US dollars.

This is exactly how it costs Idemitsu. Unfortunately, Idemitsu dealer in Greece has run out of Idemitsu and may not import again. So we left with other premix like Saber Pro

I think you mean $13.28 US, which is bad enough. We use decimal point, not a comma for US dollars. The comma makes it thirteen thousand two hundred and seventy six dollars, which is quite a bit more.

^ yes sorry you !!! 13.28 I meant . With 13,276 you probably buy a used RX-8 with premix inside the tank

Dear god, reading through nearly 70 pages was fun and not fun at the same time...

I ordered a quart of Idemitsu, and plan to start pre-mixing (300 miles on engine, great time to start!). I see so many differentiating opinions through the thread, and I think I'll settle with just doing straight Idemitsu with no FP+ for now.

so at 15000, i put in my first 4oz of premix. the engine feels and sounds noticeably smoother all the way to redline. without premix, there was a hint of high pitched metallic buzzing at high rpms. now with premix, that's gone.

i used protec r premix. i've always used vavoline 5w20 as the engine oil. i'll probably go up in weight there.

so anyway, the engine seems to like premix. surprised?

If the pump fails due to premixing this should help out.

P.S. when the light comes on you still have around 2.5 to 3 gallons of fuel in the tank.

Castrol GTX High Mileage 5w30

So is this stuff okay to use? It says it prevents oil burn...But I want it to burn right?

Just bought some Lucas UCL, put it in, and wow I cannot believe the difference. The rough idle is completely gone. I just put one bottle in with a tank of gas. I also use 5w30 synthetic oil.

Why does Mazda not suggest something like this?

Probably is not emissions friendly and Mazda probably has to cover its *** with the EPA. Think that's the reason they give us 5W-20 in USA.

what they mean is it has some chemical compound in it that makes it less likely to slip past seals. remember most engines have pistons and with a piston engine you don't want oil getting into your combustion chamber. so that's why it "prevents burn"

High millage oil will burn just like the rest of them no worries.

with that said that crap is a waste of money.

just get regular old castrol and call it a day.

changed to premix and synthetic

i got my 09 and used their oil, don't trust the dealer and don't want to take any chances. also i thought that with the changed oiling i didnt need to. as stated elsewhere i used about half a qt every 450 to 500miles, which is what i drive weekly. later on i changed to blended motorcraft 5-30 and started to pre mix. went to fourth of a qt every 450 to 500miles. at 9000 i changed to full synthetic and it now uses almost no oil after 1000miles. i know this is anecdotal but it sure did make a difference for me.

It is not a "Good thing" that your car is not using "any" engine oil, you should be very concerned if it ain't.
