Yes there is:

1. It's a good idea.
2. 8 oz per tankful is the current recommended based on engine rebuild analysis.
3. Idemitsu preferred.

if you are going to add 2 stroke oil to you tank. premix the oil, then dump it in you tank..

trust me you will have issues if you do it different.. i have fuel pumps and socks to prove it..

how i do it now is add 2 stroke oil to a 1 liter aquafina h2o bottle that is empty.. fill 80% full with gas. shake. dump in tank when full..

the aquafina bottle is the bomb. right size orifice for oil and gas..

and if you are going to premix, be smart about it.. if your car uses a lot of oil mix less. my car has never burned lots of oil.. i premix more.

for track days i premix a lot.. on the street less is more.

Does the oil and gas in the bottle stink up your car or do you do it at the gas station?

i do it at the station.. i keep dixie cups 5oz size. 1 used aquafina bottle and the oil of the day in a cardboard box with a rag and a few paper towels in the trunk. never had an issue with smell.

i do squeeze the bottle a bit when empty before i put the lid on. gets hot in fla..

and a note to all.. for the street i have been running mmo ~8 oz. not quite as good as a very good 2 stroke. but easy to find and you can just dump it in the tank..

as my car is now pretty much a track car i will run mmo for daily drives in it, to and from the track. and premix heavy at the track..

How heavy is heavy for the track? I will be doing two weekends of HPDE on high speed tracks next year (Brainerd's old layout and Road America) and I want to do it right.

Just to reemphasize what you have said: when I premixed Amsoil Saber Pro in a glass bottle, it took quite a bit of mixing to get it to disperse. (Lucas UCL dispersed easily so maybe that will be my emergency supply.)

8oz for a full tank would be heavy.

jk. I'm sure it's fine.

One nice thing about MMO is that it mixes quite readily and should be fine added directly to the tank. Depends on whether or not you think MMO makes a good premix.

I keep a Lucas UCL "one shot" bottle that I refill each time to dunk in the tank because it is designed to pour into the gas spout but I would like something with like 10oz or so that is reusable because the Lucas bottle leaks after being opened and closed a few times. Anyone know of a bottle that is designed to be used over and over?

I found a nice stainless steel bottle but would the SS react with the premix in any way?

The 1-qt MMO bottle works real well. Seems to seal OK, but aside from that, it has the long narrow spout which fits the filler. And when kept in the passthrough cubby with a spare quart of oil and a rag or two, it stays fully upright, further eliminating any leakage problems. I used a black magic marker on mine to mark off 6-oz "doses"; you can see the level well enough through the bottle. At 10 oz you'd have 3 doses of your favorite premix.

i found for daily driving that 8oz was the sweet spot for the mmo.

but again my omp does not work the same as the rest of the worlds.

I'm going to give MMO a shot. I'll start with 6 ounces per full tank fill up and go from there.

FYI, it's $2.50 a quart at Dollar General.

Good price. I got a gallon container at Walmart for $12.87 so not too far off. I just looked at the nearest DG and it's in SF. Perhaps when I get up there in the future. A bit far to drive for some MMO.

Be forewarned that the large container of MMO doesn't pour for ****. I've wasted like half of my premix because it all drips down the container instead of a smooth flow out of the top.

Sounds like I better get on this next fill up. For cold climates, is there anything the "experts" recommend?

I have a smaller bottle I am going to pour the MMO into and I have a funnel. Thanks for the headsup.

Sorry if this has been discussed, but I couldn't go through all these messages. Do the 2009's benefit from premix, or is it not necessary due to the new oiling pattern?

Thanks.

Only the shadow knows.

Many of us '09ers premix because of all the upside. Can extra lube be a bad thing for the rotary? From all my reading from the experts here I would have to say extra lube is GOOD for any series. When I started lubing her it felt smoother but maybe just me.

Which cleans more MMO or Lucas UCL? I am going a 300 mile drive on Monday and want some cleaning action with my lube. Would you do 1oz per gallon that day? I have always figured a long drive is good for cleaning - getting a chance to have cleaning for an extended single time rather than 20 min here and 30 min there. I could be persuaded to use my regular premix (Amsoil Saber Pro) too. Thanks.
