I've never had any problems taking out the glovebox, but this time the stay damper broke. Does anyone know how to remove the stay damper from its bracket? Also, anyone have the part # or the price of this piece?

I think I'll try to fix it with epoxy--any info on how to remove the damper stay assembly? I can feel that it's only attached at one point, but it doesn't seem to want to budge off that pin...

Well, I'm actually talking about the stay damper assembly, not the glovebox itself. I know the picture is misleading but I don't have the digi cam on hand. Ideas?

Ok, I've got the glovebox out of the way and I can reach around and feel the damper's "cylinder" but I can't seem to get it off the pin/hinge it is attached to. Also, if you have an extra one, would you be willing to sell it to me so I don't have to pay the stealership? (Pretty please?)

My damper broke in the first six months, the part came in and the mechanic showed me the instructions for replacement - it involved taking out most of the dash!
I told him screw that, I'd live with a 'floppy box' (!) but when I looked at the part, it was obvious you didn't have to unscrew it's bracket - I just unclipped the cylinder from the screwed bracket and passed it to him. Five minutes, tops, done.

I just busted mine too while installing my aldehyde filter. How did you unclip it? I didn't want to go around fiddling anymore and break more things

I realize this is an old thread but hope someone still looks at it haha. In my case, the part of the bracket where the Damper (cylinder) clips onto is kind of worn so the damper slightly moves sideways when its clipped on...so it doesn't stay secure. Therefore, making it more difficult to reinstall the cylinder arm to the glove box ****.

I'd like to remove the damper bracket in my car and replace it with a new bracket/damper assembly I got from the dealership today. I tried for like 40 minutes to remove that screw in the back that holds the bracket in place and failed. I was thinking about maybe removing the blower motor but it sounds like too much work for installing a stupid little glove box damper... Any thoughts? Would appreciate any comments or advice!

^^Bump. Looking for an answer as well as I just determined today that the damper bracket has a screw on the back allowing it to be removed and replaced, or at least tightened. Does anyone know how to get in there to remove it? What part is this bracket even called on the parts website as I can only find the damper?

What I'm going to try when I have some time is remove the cabin air filters, and HOPEFULLY this gives me enough room to somehow angle a small screwdriver onto that screw and get it off lol. I'll let you know how that goes...

Yeah I was thinking of using a phillips head bit with a set of pliers and turning the thing. It seems actually mine is just loose, instead of broken, but I'd rather replace it anyways if it can be done without taking drastic measures. Lol.

So glad I can FINALLY fix this after two years of thinking it was permanently broken!

Funny... Not in a way that you guys were having a hard time removing the Glove Box Actuator, but it's the second time this problem pwas brought up this week. I just bouht mine from another memeber since mine didn't come with one.

To get the damper barrel out I found the best method is to squeeze the pin holding it in place - with a screwdriver - I did not have pliers long enough and using my hand ease to barrel to the left over the closed lips of the pin.
