Greddy Synth Oil ?
http://www.greddy.com/products/displ...SubCategory=24
Im thinking, 5w40 should be the perfect oil for Renesis even N/A, my question is, does anybody here got any experience with Greddy oil ?
Cuz 10 bucks a quart seems kinda expensive for me. Im using RP 5w30 now and Im happy with it (engine revs better, much more smoother than 5w20)

Nothing but Marketing or "cover my warranty ***" kind of TSB.
ITs not even TSB, if they want to make it "official" they have to send it to every 8 users. Of which this is not even the case.
Its just funny that on the TSB, it saids Synth (or blend) will eat the rubber seals .... yeah, but that was like 20 years ago. We're in 2006.
I just cant believe that Mazda actually wants to cover their warranty costs by issuing a TB like that. Maybe they should send a letter out to everyone who has a Renesis (8?)
For those who know Rotary(or long enough on this site) should know that you have to Rev your engine once in a while to get rid of the deposit. Mineral oil or not. Oh by the way, Most Carbon despoit has nothing to do with Engine Oil, Its the Gasoline.
I just have a feeling that, the reason why Mazda can release this without any fear is that. MOSt, I mean MOST of the Rotary owners still living in the dreams from 20 yrs ago(Synth Oil bad), but refuse to wake up. So Mazda can just like
"Hey, they still believe things were the same as 20 yrs ago(synth oil), we can just release a TS, so we can ban lots of warranty and save us lots of money!"
You know what, Now Im thinking that, maybe I should take my Motor out around 60K miles. Just to prove that people are wrong about Synth. Oh yes I still have all my oil change reciept.
and this is going off topic. Can we stick it to my original post ?

Unless its really superior to all other oils (which I doubt)
I have a feeling Greddy oil is just a rebrand of some other oil. might be wrong tho.

I have run Syn-oils in previous rotary cars and never had a problem. I have put it in the tranny and rear end too. I know it is superior you can feel the improvment especially in the tranny! I have not used it in this one. I just change the oil and filter when the oil gets nearer the low mark on the dip stick never more then 2.5-3k miles. It never gets to the low mark and I have never had to add any between changes. I wonder with the new Renesis engine intake and exhaust system it might be a problem in some driving styles and conditions? What do you think?

You're too thick....
Synth or dino - 40 weight oil is much too thick.
You might use something that syrupy if you raced, and wanted to ensure the heat did not destroy your bearings (at the cost of some horsepower!) but for regular driving, I'm with Mazda; 20 weight is great.
Thicker oil will circulate slower, especially when the engine is cold.
~ ~ will cause more drag internally.
~ ~ will, most importantly, remove less heat.
Cooling is a major part of the oils' job in a rotary - it even cools the INSIDE of your rotors. Thicker is slower to circulate thru the coolers, and slower to reach the bearings, and slower to pick up and release heat.
This is not your dads' Harley.....get with the new specs!

Who uses 40 weight oil anymore? Last I checked, he was talking about a multi-viscosity oil: 5w40. Flows like stock when cold, and holds viscosity as it gets warmer.
I'm in the desert and 5w50 would be an even better choice.
You're a mod and you don't even read?
Me thinks someone needs to get with the new specs - at least something after 1972.

Yes MM, I was talking about multi one. 5w40, not straight 40
40 Straight grade oil ? If I dump that in there, Im just asking for a slow and painful death penatly for my 13B-MSP
Im using RP 5w30 now. The "Feel" is much better than 5w20. I think the reason they use 5w20 is to meet emission? or because they're partly Ford ? (most ford use 5w20)
