Gross Idle/5000-9000rpm growl

Ok so i have a 2007 mazda rx8 6 speed MT which i bought brand new from the dealership in 2007, I get oil changes every 4000-5000km and have only ever run 93 octane fuel, i pretty much try my hardest to baby my car. My driving style is not very aggressive, not saying i don't love to occasionally open er up and take it to 9 grand on the highway but usually i just putt around town. But as of lately my car has been idling like hell, it will sometimes drop below 500rpm and almost die, it was so bad yesterday it actually did just up and shut off while i was parked outside of my house. After it died i tried to start it again and it took about 10 turns of the key for it to finally fire up again. Thats only the first half of my problem.

Im not sure if this growling noise from 5000-9000 on hard accels is the noise everyone refers to about as the marbles in a jar or not but its really weird and doesn't sound the least bit healthy, it only does it sometimes though so im not sure weather or not to be worried.

Next off, i was driving down a country road 2 nights ago and got the urge to crack it open from 2nd to 5th gear. Fourth gear rolls around and at about 6000rpm the car bogged for about a second and continued its climb up the tachometer, i off course did not continue to drive. Then the CEL started blinking, that when i really got worried. So i pulled over shut off the car for 5 minutes, started it back up, and the light wasn't blinking anymore. So i drove home and parked it for the night.

I ordered new spark plugs from BHR and im hoping that will solve some of my issues, im also thinking it maybe could be a fuel pump or something??? any other ideas?
