half gutted cat, and inspection

Inspection time is just around the corner and emissions might turn out to be a problem for me. A while back I replaced my factory cat with a agency power mid pipe. Upon inspection of the old catalytic converter, I noticed I could look into the front end of the pipe and see the o2 sensor bung, and the second cat element. I was missing the front element ( o2 sensor sits between 2 filters). My question is, if I relocated the o2 bung to behind the rear element, would that funtion well enough to not throw a code.

i believe that you are correct. i've had the opposite problem, where the cat looks ok, but the car doesn't pass a sniffer test, so i assume that since the front cat seems ok, and it passes the monitor test that the rear cat must be bad.

Where do you live? As long as your state only does the obd2 test you could easily pass if you just buy a obd2 scanner and wait until it shows you will pass emissions.
