Unhappy Hard shifting....need help!!

i was just driving my car and as i go to shift to first and sometime other gears it was very hard to get into

i think it might be the synchro's or the shift fork

is there any other stuff that might cause this problem??

also how does this happen??

Did you try changing the transmission fluid?

syncro problem will cause griding. do you push the clutch pedal all the way to the floor when shifting?

yea i do push the clutch in all the way... and when i shift its usually at 4.5 rpm

i usually put the car in second when its slow rolling

but when the problem happened first i was putting it in 3rd

then it started to get a hard shift and when i was stopped and went into first

1st gear is for starting only. Don't downshift into it, its harder on the car than you need to be.

What's your hydraulic fluid level like?
How many miles on the clutch?
Does your clutch pedal move from right to left?
Have you verified your clutch pedal throw to be right?

When it doesn't want to go into gear try and push the car back a foot or so. I just open my door and rocked it back. If it goes into fear easier then I would say it is your clutch pedal. I know it sounds odd but the pedal bracket on our cars are made out of thin sheet metal and when they start to crack it pulls the contact point away. So even if your pushing the pedal all the way in, you aren't really pushing it in all the way. It is really hard to see and you have to get in a very odd position to see it. Taking out the driver seat helps. So yeah, when you move the car it turns the gears and they should "want" to align, making it easier to shift. The difference for me is like night and day.

I have the same issue when the engine and tranny is cold. Just double clutch and it should be fine. If that doesn't do it, check your tranny fluid.
