has anyone ever tried to keep there SSV open all the time?

hi guys im not to sure if anyone has ever tried to keep the SSV open all the time in the RX-8 or not would it cause any problems like throwing a cel? i was just wondering cause when i used to drive my 2nd generation RX-7 its was a fairly common thing to see n/a 2nd gens with this modification. and because i might have to replace mine and a couple other parts so i figured wile im at it i might as well check.

what little lower end a n/a 2nd gen had. it may not of been common as i'd like to believe it was but ive seen people do it in 7club. since most of the power is all the way up top anyway it wouldnt make a difference to the low end. maybe less mpg but in the 2nd gen n/a it didnt make a difference to me besides the decrese in mpg was tiny.....im just curious if itll work the same way in the renesis with out something going wrong.....

just because people do it doesn't mean it's "common" nor it's the "right thing to do"

I have a 2nd gen too so I know what you're talking about.

Have u watch the movie called "Jackass" ? Any one of them. they did all kinds of "stuff" in the movie, including one of the guy drank Horse sperm. Does that mean it's the right thing to do ?

Ok, Fine I give you the answer : It's a stupid thing to do. if you want your car to accelerate even slower, have CEL, and worst MPG then sure go ahead be my guest.

I did it too on my S3. But that was a full time race car that rarely saw low rpms. The port actuator was vacuum controlled and I wanted to make certain that the valve was fully open. I have no data that it helped or hindered performance. It just seemed like it would work.
I hadn't hear of anyone else that did it.

I wouldn't recommend it. No benifits, If the SSV is not opening it would trigger a cel.
