Headlight Auto leveling problem ? Help!
I have noticed within last 2 days my Headlights seem far from decent whilst driving.
I am usualy really impressed with my headlights, but now I can only see about half a car length infront of the car!? Its very difficult to drive, can hardly see where I'm going.
Also it was foggy yeterday, and my front fog lights dont work at all. .
When I parked at home, turned the car on, I could see the headlight beam move up to where it should be, and then when i start driving it moves right down.
I have no warning lights come up, and there is nothing in the car apart from me (weight wise) the car is out of warranty.
Anyone heard of this?
Thanks, James

Has anything happened to the car or lights recently? Have you had the aim adjusted? Were the lights worked on at all?
The TSB for the height adjust is for the electrical connectors on the suspension sensors. Normally you would get a warning light. I can't think of why this would be speed sensitive as you describe.
Another possibility is mechanical. The lights are getting pushed down by airflow as you drive but this would require some kind of damage.
Or perhaps the mechanical linkage from suspension to sensor is broken. Have you run over debris recently?

Hi again guys,
I would really appreciate some more info on this. I need to know if when changing springs you would need to, or would move the headlight auto level sensors? and are they definately on some suspension parts??
I need to know because i dont want to ring where I got them done, and not have a case to argue. its a 2 hour drive for me, petrol aint cheap here either lol.
Thanks people,

when the springs and tyres were changed someone broke either the sensor or the harness going to the sensor or at the least disconected the harness. the sensor is mounted on the suspension in the front and back of the car. its possible you have the older type of connector and that they became loose when doign the springs and tires. this could allow water to get in and destroy the sensor.
