Help with AFE Short Shifter install

Well, i know a alot of people might be really amazed and even might think im a noob to not be able to install a part that others have claimed about 10 minutes to install..but here goes. I got my short shifter last thursday (its monday now) and set out to install it really fast that same day...or so i thought. I went by the installation instructions that were posted on these forums by Gomez and the installation instructions on the axialflow.com site (as you all know both sets of instructions are one and the same). I printed them out and set out to my car to excited and ready to install my latest mod. The first two steps of the installation were a snap, removing the shift **** and Step 2 which is to remove the little panel that is forward of the cop holders. Step 3 is what got me.

3.) Now having removed the small handbrake adjust access panel, you can get to the rear right hand tab securing the shifter cover. You need to reach in and use your finger to release the tab from the console base. Take care, this one tab is very fragile!
Now i tried and tried to take this rear right hand tab off. First of all i'm not even sure what the tab feels like in there... let alone looks like. I found myself prying and pulling at basically almost everything that is inside that little panel. I tried flashing a flashlight and a lighter in there to try to get a better look of things and see which thing i am actually trying to release. After many HOURS and DAYS of trying to do this and giving up to only come back the next day and fail once again...i go to the forums for help. please anyone that can help me i would greatly appreciate it. for now my shiny new short shifter just lays in its box in my room and i'd hate to have to return it just because i couldn't take out a damn tab!!!

Don't want you to feel bad, but doing this step is too easy, explaining it is like explaining to someone how to oh i don't know, blink! i can have that cover off in under 30 sec, max. You stick your finger in and pull up, perhaps someone has a photo from a different angle.....

ps you'll simply love the shifter once in and adjusted...it's simply one of the best upgrades for little money you can do!

i know you probably don't want to but if you are having that much difficulty you can break the clip off. mine broke when i was doing and you can not even tell that it is broken unless you pull up on the shifter panel. keep trying though its worth it all once you feel that new shifter!

Maybe the tab is already broke and that's why you can't find it? lol

Your other option is to go to the norcal meet this friday evening. I think almost everyone there has installed the shifter and can show you how to remove the panel.
