Help! Bloomington, Illinois Flooded RX8
I live in Bloomington, Il, and just took my 04 RX8 to get new tires on and the techs pulled it into the garage the night before and then next morning it was flooded
1) Should they be responsible for paying for repairs (if it comes to that)?
(care, custody, and control)
2) Is there anyone in this area that could show me how to deflood it myself in case this happens again?
History 20,000 miles 2004, On 3rd set of plugs, replaces OEM with recall, and had new set put in in Feb 2009 when a new battery failed to start engine and it flooded.
I want to be able to depend on my car again, and with this looming issue, it doesnt make me feel comfortable driving it.
Thanks in advance
Kimmy
I tried doing the gas to the floor thing and that didnt work....
The tech said he tried turning it over about 4 or 5 times.
I have read posts about deflooding, but find myself concerned that I will do more damage than not, I would just like someone to show me how to deflood it!

I really dont get it, I did a lot of cold start/shut off my car just never flood
the gas to the floor thing doesnt work? are you even doing it right ?
hold the pedal to the floor, crank your engine for 10 seconds, wait couple minutes, repeat, wait couple minutes, repeat.
Now open your front rotor leading plug hole, pour a little bit of motor oil or 2 stroke premix into it. do the same thing to the 2nd rotor, close it, start. oh when your plug is out, check and see if its fouled. if it is, you're fucked, replace and try it again.
OR
push start it, its much easier and higher chance of "success" than the method above. but push start only works on MT cars.

Well a friend helped me get it started, we removed the plug to the cat converter and the fuse, and he put some oil in the spark plugs, only able to get 3 of them out...about 2 hours later we got it started....I was a b##tch getting to all of the parts, the one on the front drivers side we never could get undone, and the plugs took some work,
Next time I will try the fuse first..I think that might have worked to
Thanks !
