HELP!!Effect on Engine due to head gasket explosion
I recently bought a 2005 automatic RX-8, it somehow got heated and its head gasket blew. I Wanted to know what will be the effect of this on the engine due to that, as the engine has done only 10,000 miles? Also if I get the head gasket replaced, would it feel the same or not. Please help as I am in a fix!!!!!

With only 10,000 miles on a 2005, seems like the warranty should cover the "gas kit" (gasket?).

Where are you located and what is the climate like there? If it is hot and dry, you may have the well known engine failure problem that has plagued some automatic RX-8s in the hot-dry areas of the US. With only 10K miles on the car, take it in for warranty service. Good luck.

Wait a second...
You are saying that you blew a head gasket!?
Ok ok....is this like candid camera or something? This has to be a setup...
I really hate to sound like an ***, but I find it hard to believe that you blew a "head gasket", seeing as this is not part of a rotary engine. I find it hard to believe that you diagnosed this, as there is no way you could have EVER popped your hood to look at the engine. So, maybe you should try again.
There are plenty of helpful people on this forum that know alot about this car, but you need to do 2 things before starting threads.
1. Search. This is a great tool to finding loads of info on this site. Its easy to use, and if you do find what you're looking for, you save tons of time for waiting on replies(or flames)
2. If you do feel compelled to start a thread, try your best to make sure that the question at hand makes sense.
Anyhow good luck with that head gasket. Hope it doesn't keep you down for too long.

In the original post it said "gas kit" and not "head gasket". He went back and edited it later after the term came up. It is obvious he doesn't know that the rotary doesn't have a head gasket. He must have thought that since it was mentioned, that was what it is.
Now trying to interpret him it sounds like he overheated the car. As we all know this is bad and can lead to warpage of the rotor housings causing an external coolant leak. I'm not sure where he is from but judging by the name, he probably isn't in the U.S. and probably doesn't speak english as his native language. On top of that, rotary support probably isn't very good or well understood out there. From what it sounds like, the engine has a warped housing and needs to be rebuilt. Not going to be easy.
